This posting is for a Systems Engineering position in the Planning Yard and Fleet Support Engineering (D495) Special Missions Systems Engineering group. Candidates will be responsible for various activities required to maintain and enhance the current submarine fleet, which consists of delivered ships in all classes (OHIO, SEAWOLF, and VIRGINIA). Maintenance and enhancement activities include managing potential design changes to commissioned ships, developing documentation for class/ship modernization, and providing technical direction in support of emergent problems. This position is a multidiscipline position (Structural/ Mechanical/ Fluids) for engineering duties responsible for supporting diver and escape support systems and components. Responsibilities include providing technical guidance via liaison action requests (LAR), reverse liaison action requests (RLAR), and vendor information requests (VIRs), providing engineering support for provisioning information reviews, manual change request (MCRs) reviews, drawing reviews and development of supporting engineering calculations to support ship alterations (ShipAlts) and/or diver support systems analysis. This position also supports research and development opportunities for design enhancements to better support the dive community via the host submarine. Experience with DSS-SOC and/ or Escape and Rescue systems/ components and requirements are beneficial. This position offers the potential for travel to provide on-site technical support of maintenance and modernization activities at various shipyards. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (i.e. Marine Engineering, Systems Engineering, Structural Engineering, Fluids Engineering, Civil Engineering)
