Position Summary

TCW is seeking a portfolio specialist VP to join the Private Credit group and help support its client relations, marketing, reporting and product development efforts. The role will work closely with senior professionals who act as the primary liaison between the investment team, TCW's distribution personnel, and existing and prospective clients. Portfolio specialists work regularly with groups across all aspects of the firm including communications, compliance, legal, fund accounting, operations and product services to help respond to inbound requests from clients about their portfolios, provide quarterly and annual updates about market conditions and performance, respond to due diligence questionnaires, and develop written content for marketing purposes. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to all the aspects of supporting the management of a growing and rapidly evolving alternatives business. The portfolio specialist VP will collaborate with a team of individuals who have deep expertise in private credit in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment.



Essential Duties

    Develop unique product and portfolio specific performance commentary using both market and internal research
  • Analyze individual portfolio companies and effectively communicate both quantitative and qualitative drivers of performance in written commentary form
  • Lead the creation of product specific materials and client presentations
  • Collaborate with senior professionals in direct support of client relationships
  • Supervise junior members of the team and take ultimate responsibility for the underlying work product
  • Coordinate with other client-related groups on specific inquiries or other requests for information including due-diligence questionnaires and request-for-proposals
  • Communicate directly with clients and consultants, as needed
  • Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of ad-hoc reporting and other analyses as required to respond to investor inquiries
  • Liaise with other departments (Sales/Marketing, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Accounting, Product Services) to provide information in response to client needs/requests
  • Identify ways of creating efficiencies/improving processes


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of +10 years of professional experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills


Professional Skills Qualifications

  • A self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently, as well as in team settings
  • Well-organized and able to prioritize multiple requests from a variety of sources
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze large data sets
  • Experience managing junior personnel


Desired Qualifications

  • Solid working knowledge and understanding of financial accounting, capital markets and the asset management business
  • A high-level understanding of the private credit market
  • Excellent client service and analytical skills

Estimated Compensation:

Base Salary: For CA/NY based position, the base salary range is $200K-$240K. This is an anticipated range for the base salary only.

Other Compensation: Eligible to be considered for an annual discretionary bonus.
