Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Support a wide variety of projects involving environmental investigations and remediation activities;
- Fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system Operation and Maintenance (O&M);
- Coordinate and implement field projects, oversee drilling, monitoring, sampling, and overseeing treatment system operations;
- Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
- Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, and implementation;
- Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
- Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures;
- Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals; and
- Interface directly with project internal and external personnel including, but not limited to, principals, business operations personnel, clients, subcontractors, and regulators.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's or master's degree in geology or hydrogeology (required)
- Geologist in Training (GIT) certification or on track to obtain GIT. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Eager to learn and gain new experience. (required)
- At least 2 years of related experience including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, soil vapor sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
- Demonstrated strong interest in contaminant remediation and/or quantitative hydrogeology. (preferred)
- Observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling and logging using the USCS classification, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques. (preferred)
- Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
- Technical experience in geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
- Experience with construction work such as plumbing, electrical, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical tasks and use of hand tools. (valuable)
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
- Ability to multi-task and take directions with willingness to support multiple projects simultaneously. (required)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)

- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum: $66,560/year / Maximum: $82,495/year or Minimum: $26.25/hour / Maximum: $32.00/hour (Sacramento, CA)
