Purpose of Position	The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Philosophy at Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a non-tenure-track position at the rank of Visiting Teaching Professor in Sociology for the 2025-2026 academic year (beginning in August, 2025). This full-time, non-renewable appointment focused on excellence in undergraduate teaching and student engagement. The position requires availability for face-face (in-person) and online teaching. The selected candidate will join a department faculty committed to high-quality teaching and support of student success.
Primary Responsibilities	Teach a 4/4 course load (or equivalent) in undergraduate sociology courses in-person and online, including introductory (and possibly upper-division offerings, based on qualification and teaching experience). Contribute to curriculum development and assessment within the sociology program. Engage in student mentoring, particularly for majors and minors in sociology. Participate in departmental, college, and university activities related to teaching and pedagogy. Maintain currency in the discipline through professional development and scholarly engagement, as appropriate for a teaching-focused role.
Qualifications	Master's or Ph.D. in Sociology or a closely related field (ABD candidates may be considered with expected completion before the start date). Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching. Commitment to inclusive pedagogy and fostering a diverse learning environment.
Minimum Education	Master's Degree
Preferred Education	Ph.D
