Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic and motivated Research Specialist to conduct experiments in a translational team environment on NIH-funded project that tests effects of alcohol in both rodents and humans. Rodent research includes in vivo neural manipulations (optogenetics, DREADDs, electrophysiology, MRI), reward-learning tasks, binge-like ethanol exposure, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, complex behavioral and statistical analysis, stereotaxic surgery and ethanol self-administration in rats. Human-subject research includes questionnaires, online surveys, behavioral assessments, fMRI, EEG, and non-invasive brain stimulation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong laboratory, communication, and analytical skill are required.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
The preferred candidate will have proficiency in rodent behavioral pharmacology paradigms. Other ideal expertise includes rodent neuropharmacology, sex differences, addictive drug pharmacology, and learning and memory paradigms. Demonstration of proficiency in these techniques through peer-reviewed publications is ideal.
