In conjunction with the Specialty Surfactants Business Unit (BU) for which the position is responsible, manage activities to assure compliance with legal and corporate product stewardship and regulatory affairs requirements in a cost effective and efficient manner. This position reports to the Manager, PS&RA for the Specialty Surfactants BU and has no direct reports. KEY ACTIVITIES
- Prepare, assist and maintain commercial and R&D composition databases, SDSs and labels, packaging requirements, certificates of compliance (PFAS, Food Contact, etc.), product registrations and approvals (including TSCA, CEPA, etc.), for the BU and otherwise obtain and maintain ongoing compliance with international, federal, state, local, and corporate product stewardship requirements for relevant BU products. (40%)
- Counsel and advise the BU in areas of product stewardship (including TSCA, FIFRA, CEPA, OSHA Hazard Communication, Hazardous Materials Transportation and HTSUS product classifications), product regulatory affairs, and product risk management as such areas may impact the research, development, manufacture, marketing, sale, handling, transportation and advertising of the BU(s) products. - Applies an in-depth regulatory knowledge and understanding to complete various required assessments; i.e. Toxicology Assessments, TSCA Assessments and DOT Classifications. (10%)
- Propose solutions to solve product stewardship regulatory issues in a sustainable, sound, safe and cost-effective manner. (5%)
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of emerging technical and regulatory issues pertaining to each BU and its products. (5%)
- Support Manager, Product Stewardship & Regulatory Affairs in efforts to effectively manage and maintain statistics to report on the turnaround KPIs for SDS and MDP requests. (5%)
- Timely and appropriately, respond to product stewardship and regulatory affairs inquiries from customers, users, and agencies, and others regarding the BU products. (15%)
- As directed, conduct training for BU research and development, commercial and manufacturing personnel, and customers on product stewardship and regulatory affairs issues related to the BU products. (5%)
- Perform any other related duties as specified by supervisor. (5%)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. Degree in relevant field of study (e.g. environmental science, biology, chemical engineering, chemistry, toxicology) or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in product stewardship/regulatory affairs or related area
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws and regulations governing product stewardship such as TSCA, FIFRA, CEPA, OSHA Hazard Communications, hazardous materials transportation, HTSUS product classifications as well as knowledge of product risk management and product stewardship is essential.
- Prior experience in the completion of Toxicology & TSCA Assessments and DOT Classifications.
- Current proficiency in standard office software (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation packages), as well as, the ability to learn specialized applications such as SAP and Ariel required.

- Experience successfully interacting with diverse groups at all technical levels such as customer service, plant personnel, R&D, customers, technical consultants, contractors, etc.
- Ability to accomplish assignments, goals, objectives and projects in an accurate and timely manner with minimal supervision.
