About the Position

The IT Security Analyst Senior/Lead assesses IT information risk and facilitates remediation of identified vulnerabilities with the Sheriff's Office network, systems, and applications. This position provides IT security expertise to perform complex duties and may lead or direct the work of lower-level staff to enhance the technological security of the Sheriff's Office.

Position Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related field.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in IT security and compliance or related field.

OR

Combined education and experience qualifications

  • Other combinations of education or experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year for year basis.

Other requirements

  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire.
  • Training that may be provided on-the-job: FEMA NIMS - IS100 and 700; Safety; Payroll; PREA.
  • Prior to hiring, the Sheriff's Office requires that all candidates pass a background review.

Our Preferred Candidate has

  • Two (2) years' experience in managing a Security Operations Center (SOC) and/or Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).
  • Experience in a government or law enforcement environment.
  • Experience in Governance and Policy compliance (NIST 800-53).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).

Essential Job Tasks

  • Performs high level analysis of potential network vulnerabilities/threats and risk assessments to remedy threats from unauthorized users.
  • Reports on findings and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Leads lower-level staff in assessing and addressing vulnerabilities; reviews and analyzes output from network security devices.
  • Provides technical expertise to staff in the Technology Bureau.
  • Provides advanced security operations support; produces the day-to-day metrics.
  • Reviews changes to information systems to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Implements and evaluates organizational compliance with the Sheriff's Office and the County's IT Information Security policies, standards, procedures and guidelines.
  • Identifies areas where existing data security policies and procedures may require revising or new policies may need to be developed; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce risk and documents remediation options regarding acceptance or mitigation of risk scenarios.
  • Facilitates and monitors performance of risk remediation tasks, changes related to risk mitigation, and reports on findings.
  • Develops and recommends policy and procedural improvements; modifies procedures to prevent future incursions.
  • Consults with departments regarding the implementation of approved information security controls.
  • Educates users about network security policies and consults on security issues.
  • Remains current on latest security and privacy legislation, regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
