Job Description

The analyst is an individual contributor who also works in a team environment on various activities impacting Classification for Global Trade (CGT) as well as cross functional partners. The Specialist will determine accurate classification of Harmonized Tariff Codes (HTS), Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) & Country of Origin (COO) for standard and Engineered to Order (ETO) products while creating and maintaining backup in the system. This position will also support country of origin solicitation and global Free Trade Agreements (FTA) by reviewing and determining eligibility. The Specialist will manage day to day transactional tasks, respond to classification requests as well as participate in department projects as assigned. You will report to the Global Trade Manager.

Your Responsibilities:

  • General knowledge of the following regulations and rules:
    • Harmonized Tariff Schedule on a global level in accordance with WCO rules and regulations.
    • U.S. Export Administration Regulations and the Commerce Control List as well as working knowledge of foreign export control laws
    • Global Country of Origin rules and solicitation
  • Working knowledge of global Free Trade Agreements and how to determine eligibility
  • Determine global HTS codes, US ECCN and COO for all products
  • Read and interpret Bills of Material, engineering drawings and other technical data
  • Create adequate backup documentation for product classifications per department procedures.
  • Creating daily classification documentation for customers and suppliers as needed
  • Country of origin solicitation from vendors.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments for missing classification data
  • Release orders on hold in the systems
  • Navigate SAP/IFS systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise in day-to-day transactions
  • Respond to classification inquiries
  • Work on projects as assigned
  • Works towards being a subject matter expert
  • Able to identify issues along with potential solutions
  • Provides support and guidance to Rockwell Automation business units and subsidiaries on import/export classification
  • Ensures compliance with Rockwell Automation global policies and procedures

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree with two plus years of experience in relevant field (e.g. International Business, Business, Trade Compliance, Import, Export, etc.)
  • Licensed Customs Broker a plus.
  • Proven experience in origin solicitation, classification, import, export and customs for a high tech company.
  • Proven working knowledge of international business, computer skills and ability to communicate globally. SAP/GTS experience is a plus.
