Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Biostatistician for Rutgers University Biostatistics and Epidemiology Services (
RUBIES within the School of Public Health, located in Piscataway, NJ. Under direction of the Administrative Manager, the Biostatistician will provide statistical and study/research design support to investigators throughout Rutgers University, in coordination with the
RUBIES Manager and Faculty Director. The Biostatistician will also assist the
RUBIES Manager in the tracking and billing of project requests.
Duties include:
- Statistics, Data Management, and Study/Research Design Consulting:
- Participates in research project and grant development teams for both experimental and observational studies, specifically providing input into hypotheses and study design as well as developing power calculations and comprehensive statistical analysis plans for both IRB protocols and grant submission packets.
- Under direction/independently conducts descriptive, bivariable, and multivariable analyses related to research questions.
- Works alongside the client (and other RUBIES staff members when needed) to design, engineer, and/or implement data collection tools or architecture for data recording in REDCap, Qualtrics, MS Excel, MS Access, etc.
- Assists RUBIES leadership with managing and securing datasets generated in research studies or purchased from national level data consortiums.
- Contributes towards manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, including writing clear and concise statistical methodology sections and summarizing results in text, tables, and figures.
- Works with investigators in Newark, New Brunswick/Piscataway and Camden, as well as other RWJBH affiliated locations when needed, to provide expert statistical services.
- Keeps abreast of new statistical methodology and software.
- Administrative:
- Assists the RUBIES Administrative Manager and program support coordinator/project manager in tracking requests, completion progress, and estimating hours required to complete analyses for clients.
- Assists with the maintenance of client records and invoicing upon project completion.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology or related field is required, plus three (3) years of experience in academia, government, or industry in the areas of design and analysis of experiments, including basic science, clinical trials or survey research.
- Experience with basic MS Office software and at least one (1) data analysis software including SAS, SPSS, R, etc.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication, as well as the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with completing demands from multiple investigators is essential.
- Have a vehicle and a valid driver's license for travel between university campuses.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with statistical methodology and statistical package development, REDCap, GIS/spatial analysis, and large databases is a plus.
