We are currently hiring Inpatient/Outpatient phlebotomists. For1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift positions! Full time, part time, and resource hours are available

Essential functions of these roles include but are not limited to collecting blood specimens from patients of all ages with a strong emphasis on safety and quality, delivering exceptional patient care through positive interactions with patients, families, and visitors, as well as maintaining confidentiality. We have paid on-the-job training and offer chances to work at either Blodgett or Butterworth hospital locations or within our many medical facilities throughout West Michigan.

Inpatient phlebotomists work under the supervision of lead, supervisor, experienced staff, and/or clinicians within Pathology or Laboratory. Essential functions include:

  • Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatrics, throughout the hospital with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service in a manner consistent with caring and respect while maintaining confidentiality. Interacts with patients, families and visitors in a manner consistent with Spectrum Health hospitality standards.
  • Serves as a resource regarding specimen requirements and processing, including the mentoring of new staff.
  • Processes orders and specimens, performs computer entry and other related activities per standard.
  • Tracks incoming specimens, checks for proper labeling and routes to appropriate location.

Outpatient phlebotomists work under the supervision if lead, supervisor, experienced staff and/or clinicians within the lab. Essential functions include:

  • Collects blood specimens from patients of all ages at varied outpatient draw sites throughout West Michigan, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.
  • Greets and communicates in a manner consistent with caring and respect while maintaining confidentiality. Answers telephones, takes messages, and interacts with patients, families and visitors in a manner consistent with Spectrum Health hospitality standards.
  • Serves as a resource regarding specimen requirements and processing, including the mentoring of new staff.
  • Processes orders and specimens, performs computer entry and other related activities per standard.
  • Receives incoming specimens, checks for proper labeling and routes to appropriate location.
Job Summary
Works under the supervision of lead, supervisor, experienced staff, and/or clinicians within Pathology or Laboratory
Essential Functions
  • Greets and communicates in a manner consistent with caring and respect and dealing with confidentiality. Answers telephone, takes messages, welcomes visitors and provides / relays information in a manner consistent with hospitality standards.
  • Serves as a resource regarding specimen requirements and processing, including mentoring new staff.
  • Processes orders, performs computer order entry and other related activities per standard, which may include registering clients, contacting providers for issue resolution, entering charges for services, performing and resulting tests.
  • May draw blood specimens from patients. (Based on specific Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate.)
  • Receives incoming specimens, checks for proper labeling and routes to appropriate location. Accepts laboratory test results and files and / or communicates results to the appropriate people. (Based on specific Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate.)
  • Follows all Spectrum Health procedures and policies.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and graduate of a Phlebotomy training program (based on specific Spectrum Health entity and department as appropriate) required
  • Associate's Degree Healthcare related field preferred
  • Experience dealing with the public, preferably in the medical or customer service field preferred
  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan required for outpatient
  • CRT-Phlebotomy Technician - NHA National Health career Association preferred.
