Summary:

The Senior Payroll Specialist will oversee and execute the day-to-day duties in processing the Company's multi-state payroll for all hourly and salaried employees, ensuring pay is processed timely, accurately, and in compliance with Federal and State Wage and Hour regulations and Company policies. This role reports to the Region Payroll Team Lead in GBS HR NA.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in the payroll field required.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associate degree (two-year program) or equivalent formal training program.
  • Experience in MS Office Suite with an emphasis in Excel is required.
  • Experience in a union manufacturing operation preferred.
  • Broad familiarity with both State and Federal Wage and Hour Laws.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Maintaining strict confidentially of sensitive information is extremely important.
  • Working knowledge of UltiPro and Kronos, a plus.
  • Knowledge of US/Canadian payroll process, a plus.
  • Ability to develop and forge relationships with stakeholders by providing excellent customer service in the area of payroll.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review all hourly weekly and all salaried non-exempt biweekly timecard data by generating various reports to ensure hours scheduled for payment fall within Company Policies.
  • Prior to actual paychecks being issued, review preview payroll registers and sends approval to payroll vendor for final processing.
  • Maintain timekeeping system.
  • Enter all employee schedule assignment changes and PTO plan data as needed in system.
  • Work with system technicians to resolve any outstanding issues with the system.
  • Thoroughly test all proposed system enhancements or pending changes to pay rules prior to final implementation.
  • Resolve employee issues or questions regarding hours/earnings/deductions on paychecks.
  • Assist employees with direct deposit and general deduction changes; updates system accordingly.
  • Calculates and submits bonus/profit sharing payments, retention bonus and other supplemental pay for processing.
  • Submit accounts payable voucher requests for payment to third party vendors for employee deduction withholdings - union dues, United Way, etc.
  • Assist new Supervisors using timekeeping system and resolve any problems users encounter.
  • On a regular basis, provide weekly and monthly hours, earnings, and attendance reports and queries from Payroll and HR systems.
  • Distribute payroll related data as requested by location management, Union, HR and Finance departments.
  • Works closely with HR team regarding employee status changes that affect pay - terminations, disability/worker's comp, FMLA, etc.
