Position Description ERT is seeking a Network Engineer to support NOAA's Office of Water Prediction's NextGen Water Prediction Capability framework. This is a fully remote position supporting work headquartered at NOAA's Silver Spring, MD facility. Required Skills 4+ years of relevant network engineering experience leading to:
- General AWS proficiency and solid understanding of AWS services like EC2, S3, EFS, IAM, VPC, SSM, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Route53
- Strong Networking & Network Specific Cloud Infrastructure (AWS) experience with knowledge of Transit Gateway (TGW), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), VPC Peering, VPC
- Routing and Subnetting, VPC Flow Logs and traffic analysis, and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) expertise for potential routing across AWS and multi-cloud environments
- Knowledge of security best practices for networking, including: AWS Security Groups, NACLs / ACLs, Network segmentation, DDoS protection / Firewalls, Ingress/Egress VPC management and traffic flow security
- Terraform expertise for managing AWS networking and security infrastructure
- Experience with AWS Landing Zone Accelerator (LZA)
- Bash and Python scripting skills for automating infrastructure/systems management tasks
- Network security principles (Zero Trust, IAM best practices, encryption in transit)
- AWS IAM and role-based access control
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Good documentation and knowledge-sharing habits
- Ability to collaborate across DevOps, Security, and Cloud teams
- Must be a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident and able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government facilities/systems.

Education BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent Location Work may be performed remotely supporting NOAA's Silver Spring, MD office. Compensation The salary range for this role is approximately $48,000 - 269,000/year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization.
