Are you passionate about developing and coaching talented individuals? Do you excel in leading teams to innovate and optimize processes? If so, the role of Director of TXO Technology may be for you! This is a full-time on-site position in Longview and will report to the Vice President of Process Development and Circular Solutions in Kingsport, with dotted line reporting to the Vice President of CI Manufacturing and TXO Site Manager. The Director of TXO Technology leads a diverse, multifunctional team who is responsible for continual plant analytical and process support, process improvement, scale-up, and process/product innovation while providing leaders for the future. They will work closely with key stakeholders in manufacturing and other functional organizations to execute risk mitigation strategies, effective cost reduction, and innovation programs. The TXO Technology organization consists of approximately 100 team members performing the following unique functions:
- TXO Process Improvement and Six Sigma (responsible for manufacturing support, process optimization, and manufacturing cost reductions)
- TXO Process Innovation (responsible primarily for TXO product & process innovation, as well as growth projects)
- TXO Analytical (responsible for measuring final and intermediate product properties, conducting non-routine analysis for troubleshooting, and developing innovative analytical metrology)
- TXO Pilot Plant (responsible for piloting scaled-up version of process and product innovation)
Responsibilities
- Drive a continually improving strong safety culture, promoting behaviors and holding accountable as needed.
- Coach and develop leaders (direct reports and business team).
- Lead the technology team.
- Provide vision, focus and direction.
- Leads the required culture change and paradigm shifts.
- Act as gatekeeper to manage growth portfolio, stage gate and productivity projects.
- Oversee resource planning; capacity utilization and feedback usage.
- Work with BO Directors and Functional Partners to make recommendations on new technology platforms & develop technology strategy for the business.
- Attract, engage, develop and retain the talent needed to provide people capable of implementing the Technology Program.
- Ensure appropriate analytical and technical process support.
- Drive staffing and execution of technology programs.
- Decisively manage the technology project portfolio (growth, PI, core competency and exploratory).
- Execute succession planning for technology leadership roles. Coordinate plans with other leadership needs at the Longview site.
- Manage technology/resource capability to support current/future core and growth efforts.
- Build and execute multi-horizon technology strategy to support the business; develop initiatives for new product lines, market extensions/expansions.
- Serve on the TXO Site Leadership Team as a key resource for ensuring the TXO site and Technology are aligned on direction and objectives.
Qualifications
- BS or higher degree in relevant technical discipline (preferably chemical engineering or chemistry).
- 10+ years' chemical industry experience preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in people leadership required.
- Technology development and management experience.
- Competitive intelligence experience.
- Competency with technology and managing innovation portfolio.
- Experience in multiple functional, business and/or technology areas.
- Demonstrated expertise of effective collaboration with cross-functional partners.
- Experience in people/organizational management.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong negotiating skills paired with effective communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership capabilities and comfort in navigating conflict.
- Demonstrated Capability to learn new techniques and quickly apply them (action orientation).
