Your Opportunity

The IT Manager, Server and Cloud Computing will manage and be the primary resource responsibly for leading the team in cloud and on-premise platform operations, resolving complex issues, designing and building of innovative solutions for strategic projects, leading, mentoring and reviewing of team members, and managing vendors.Responsible for ensuring company-wide deployment of cloud and server technology and standards, driving orchestration of build - management - service processes, steering improved administration and monitoring capabilities.This position will collaborate with other IT teams, business units, and vendors to design and implement technical solutions that align to the Infrastructure strategy, management and governance of business processes and operations with the implementation of infrastructure services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction on implementation teams deploying new systems and operational processes in accordance with strategic business initiatives and approved projects

  • Provide leadership and direction in the development of detailed implementation and contingency plans

  • Continuously lead the team to improve current state by employing performance tuning activities based on monitoring data, and drive troubleshooting and resolving complex problems that may arise

  • Provides leadership and direction for daily operations support for both on-premise and cloud services

  • Lead the team and present recommend options on existing or proposed compute technologies and solutions to ensure compliance with security, performance, reliability and scalability

  • Manage and leverage external service providers to achieve results driving operational excellence

  • Stays updated on enterprise technologies and platform infrastructure solutions to determine capabilities that could improve Smithfield's operational and performance requirements

  • Lead in the strategy, management and governance of IT process and operations of infrastructure services and solutions that meet existing and future requirements for functionality and integration with existing components

  • Enterprise capability to see troublesome trends to solve issues before they affect business productivity

  • Manage requirements gathering for current, organic growth, and new project requirements for capacity and performance planning to forecasting system needs and for financial planning with I&O leadership

  • Enable and provide mentorship for team members to advance their skills and capabilities to drive group capabilities

  • Manage and insure the creation and maintenance of documentation of compute services design and specifications for engineer reference and training fellow team members

  • Manage and deliver on yearly Internal Audit requirements under the compute areas of responsibility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership is required

  • Ability to lead and manage under conditions of ambiguity and uncertainty

  • Ability to communicate across organizational boundaries and reporting lines

  • Experience motivating, training and coaching employees to encourage optimum performance and engagement.

  • Established technical knowledge leading computer platform teams for cloud and on-premise environments

  • Technical knowledge of Active Directory, ADFS, SCCM, VMWare, server hardware, Veeam, Windows, Linux

  • Experience working with multi cloud enterprises environments and understanding of advanced capabilities and service cost structures of major providers (Azure and AWS Plus)

  • Knowledge of operational characteristics of infrastructure services, systems, hardware and software

  • Ability to lead a team to adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems

  • Self-motivated, analytical, and possessing excellent problem-solving and follow-through skills

  • Able to drive for root causes of problems, quickly review and determine efficient solutions, anticipate risks and provide leadership to mitigate in the moment

  • Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements to communicate technical needs to team

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques used in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of server and cloud infrastructure and application impacts and dependencies

  • Strong interpersonal skills - team player with service-oriented style

  • Excellent organizational, technical, and business communication skills

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for management of a team of IT Server & Cloud Engineers

  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Fosters a culture of success through accountability and delivery, 1-1 and staff meetings, clear expectations and in the moment feedback; building strong team having right skills and competencies
