The Distribution Center Assistant Manager will have oversight to all functions at the CDC location, including shipping, receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities of the warehouse, the Wire Shop, Fabrication, Transportation, Automation, PLS, and Quality Assurance. This role will work in close conjunction with the CDC Manager to execute on the tactical items pertaining to the running of the CDC. This role will guide workflow activities and has the ability to step in and support any team at the CDC. This skilled multitasker will ensure that customer expectations are met daily and orders are processed and shipped without incident. The person in this role will need to be able to show strong leadership, value 'quality' and 'service excellence', drive a customer-centric, employee-centric and continuous improvement culture, and be committed to understanding and satisfying internal/external customer needs.

* Lead and work as an integral member of the CDC Leadership Team.

* Oversee and optimize daily operations while controlling and managing inventory and logistics/ transportation.

* Ensure timely order processing, inventory control, and effective warehouse management.

* Develop warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements, equipment utilization, inventory, gate processes, and shipping methods.

* Achieve inventory accuracy, coordinate order fulfillment, and track shipping times for millions of product orders every year.

* Review and prepare workflows, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service.

* Develop self by accepting challenges to expand professional knowledge and capabilities.

* Provide safety, DOT, and environmental leadership and accountability.

* Leverage data and analytics to forecast and plan across supply chain, operations, and logistics.

* Implement inbound/outbound logistics optimizations inclusive of supplier synergies and cost reductions.

* Meet regularly with team leads to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention.

* Other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis on business management, supply chain, logistics and/or equivalent knowledge through job related experience and training
  • Five years Warehouse leadership experience and training
  • Extensive experience in supply chain ideally within an electrical distribution business
  • Data analysis, understanding of logistics system processes to drive accuracy and efficiency
  • Experience leading transformational change at the business-unit level
  • Solid understanding of Federal DOT, Safety and OSHA standardsFamiliar with a variety of electrical industry concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to develop close working relationships with both customers and colleagues
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals
  • Possess in depth knowledge of QED computer systems, Eclipse, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Collaborate, mentor, motivate and lead logistics associates in a matrix organization
  • Team player who acts in alignment with QED's strong core values and beliefs
  • Forklift certification and other similar equipment experience.
  • Knowledge of shipping/receiving practices, policies and techniques.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
