Who we are looking for

Purpose

Chiesi is looking for a highly motivated, collaborative, and compassionate individual for the position of Senior Manager Pipeline Programs, Patient Advocacy at Chiesi Rare Diseases.
The position reports to the VP, Global Patient Advocacy and collaborates actively across geographies and functions. Tasked with developing and executing plans for engagement and insight gathering with early rare disease pipeline area patient communities, this individual will also implement tactics related to global patient advocacy strategies. We are looking for someone passionate about science and also able to engage relevant stakeholders on complex concepts using plain language. This individual must have a desire to make a difference for people living with, and communities impacted by rare diseases by developing and expanding relationship-partnerships with patient advocacy organizations and ensuring that the needs and insights from these relationships are reflected in Chiesi's decision-making process. You will represent the "voice of the patient" to inform internal cross-functional teams and champion patient-focused projects and programs while balancing community expectations for early-stage research.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Global Rare Disease patient advocacy strategy, reflecting Chiesi's commitment to the patient community.
  • Develop and implement plans to engage global patient communities across the Chiesi Rare Diseases pipeline portfolio, working cross-functionally with R&D, Clinical, Strategic Innovation and other business functions.
  • Sit on and contribute to relevant program teams and champion patient insights and key community perspectives in program plans.
  • Serve as primary point of contact to build and maintain collaborative, partnerships with stakeholders and patient advocacy groups.
  • Compliantly exchange information related to Chiesi Rare Diseases areas of interest while also ensuring that collaborative plans are commensurate with the stage of development for each program under the pipeline umbrella.
  • Represent and champion the patient perspective during planning strategy meetings to help inform decisions and contribute to successful achievement of goals.
  • Propose and implement patient advocacy programs and partnerships that include educational programs, advisory boards, patient speaker engagement, clinical trial awareness, etc.
  • Conduct engagements in adherence with legal, compliance and regulatory guidelines to ensure Chiesi Rare Disease relationships with advocacy stakeholders are representative both of Chiesi values and local regulations.
  • Represent Chiesi Rare Diseases at specific meetings, exhibit and/or present as needed.

Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in the bio-pharmaceutical environment with at least 2 years of relevant professional experience in rare disease and patient advocacy or associated function.
  • Understanding of drug research and clinical development, regulatory, compliance and disclosure guidelines.
  • Strong listening, communication, networking, and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships of trust quickly with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage external expectations conscientiously and diplomatically for high-risk early-stage programs.
  • Ability to translate terms and concepts to audiences with different perspectives and levels of understanding.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across all functions and levels of the organization and influence without reporting authority.
  • Strong project and program management skills.
  • Preference to be Boston-based, Europe-based possible. Must be willing and able to travel internationally (approximately 40%).

Education

Undergraduate degree in social science, public health, science, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
