Position Summary:

Effectively teach, train, and convert the customer base in the covered market on the value, service, and merits of Ames Tools. Converting sold tool users, banjo users, and hand finishers to the Ames rental model. Effectively growing the market they oversee to the prescribed tool and taper goals that Ames has set each year. Using the features and benefits of Ames tools and merchandise model to aggressively write sales orders for merchandise to be sold through the stores or delivered when applicable.

Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Territory Management
  • Meet customers and assess their needs.
  • Conduct a dynamic tools presentation and provide instruction to prospective tool users.
  • Cultivate relationships and build referral business.
  • Conduct Training Events.
  • Conduct product demonstrations.
  • Will deliver hard sales results to the store level by writing merchandise sales orders while conducting customer appointments.
  • Conduct Demo with customers.
  • Assist with open house events.
  • Assist with tool quality and development.
  • Assist with employee and training.
  • Certification of Ames customers on the tools.
  • Grow rental revenues to desired company standards.
  • Travel is required.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Basic Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and four plus years related experience.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Outstanding skills in customer service, suggestive selling skills, financial acumen, understanding of and ability to sell importance of service in the tool rental equation.
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean MVR with ability to be underwritten by company automobile insurance carrier.
  • Forklift Certification is required in some stores and may be obtained post hire.
  • Ability to conduct tool training sessions on job sites,
  • Ability to sell features and benefits to end users and decision makers,
  • Ability to sell features and benefits of sales merchandise product line.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to see to use the retail POS system, receive inventory, assist customers in locating product, read and reply to email and perform other duties requiring vision.
  • Must be able to hear and speak to customers, vendors, support team at S3C and others.
