The Department

The Chicago Life practice is part of Milliman's LifeRTC practice which provides risk, technology and consulting services to the insurance and asset management industries.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced professional to expand our services with life insurers in the areas of Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Asset Liability Management (ALM), and Investment Management. Our goal as a business is to provide advanced SAA, ALM, risk management and portfolio optimization solutions to life insurers and the insurance asset management industry. We would look for this position to drive corresponding initiatives and business development activities, while collaborating with our experienced group of professionals. Our practice has significant expertise in SAA, ALM, capital management, and integrated technology to perform advanced analytics to design and manage portfolios for balance sheet and earnings optimization objectives, while focusing on economic, accounting and solvency metrics.

Your Responsibilities:



  • Expand our market presence and promote our capabilities amongst insurance asset management and ALM professionals by leading business development activities.
  • Establish an industry leading presence for Milliman by collaborating on white papers, speaking at relevant industry conferences etc. Advise insurers and insurance asset managers as they look to develop or enhance SAA and ALM capabilities, Provide guidance to better adapt, enhance, and market our software solutions for SAA and ALM.
  • Develop partnerships with clients to provide on-going SAA consulting or outsourced services.
  • Develop consulting services for asset managers aimed at providing advisory on regulations, capital management, product development and other insurance hot topics
  • Develop ALM optimization services, to bridge asset managers with insurers' capital and risk management objectives
  • Advise on optimization of investment strategies for M&A and reinsurance transactions, and post-acquisition management.
  • Develop hedging strategies and overlays for risk management and portfolio enhancement.


Job Knowledge, Experience Skills

Job Knowledge Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in finance, or a related program of study. A professional designation such as CFA would be a "nice to have".
  • Ten or more years of experience in life insurance asset management
  • Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and Asset Liability Management (ALM) expertise
  • Knowledge of a broad range of asset classes used by insurance companies, including experience with private credit and alternative investments
  • Knowledge of balance sheet management, Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP), capital management, financial performance management and hedging techniques.
  • Knowledge of liquidity management, including intraday liquidity management, cash management, cash flow forecasting and funding planning.
  • Experience with market data vendors and asset modeling software.

  • Excellent presentation skills and experience presenting to senior management and clients.

  • Proven record of reliability and dedication to high quality work.


Location

Candidates hired into this role will be required to work in-person in the Milliman office in Chicago, IL on a weekly basis, but flexible work arrangements will be considered.

Compensation

The overall salary range for this role is $181,610 - $299,530. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
