Are you passionate about Assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our assembly function. As an assembler, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Assembler-Basic role involves performing essential mechanical and electrical assembly tasks to support the production of S&C's products. This entry-level position requires basic wiring, mechanical assembly, and the ability to follow schematics and assembly instructions. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical assembly tasks, including fitting various panels and devices according to schematics and assembly instructions.
- Mount components and route/secure cables as needed, using torque tools and lifting devices.
- Inspect components and assemblies to ensure correct component selection, placement, and wiring, according to quality standards.
- Read and understand blueprints/schematics and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
- Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
- Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
- Use an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
- Verify quality standards via a quality assurance checklist.
- Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards, including the use of lifting devices and other ergonomic or safety devices when required.
- Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
- Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.
- Seek clarification when instructions or processes are not understood.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Attend in-person or virtual meetings as requested or required.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with others.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
- 0-1 year of experience in mechanical or electrical assembly, which can include personal or hobby experience. Must have a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced assembly line, where tasks need to be completed before the line progresses every 15 minutes.
- Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate part quantities consistently.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
- Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and weights.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team members inside and outside of the department.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools such as alignment gauges.
- Willingness to do physical work in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
Preferred:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles.
Physical demands: Standing: Continuously required to stand and perform tasks. Walking: Frequently required to walk moderate distances across the S&C campus. Lifting & Carrying: Frequently required to solo or team lift and/or carry items exercising sound judgment to employ manual handling or machine lifts where required, and risk assessments, if appropriate. Low Posture: Frequently required to perform tasks using a low posture, including but not limited to stooping, bending, crawling, crouching, kneeling, or squatting. Position Self / Move: Frequently required to position self to perform tasks involving but not limited to reaching, twisting, rotating, and pushing/pulling. Manual Dexterity: Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/ machinery/ power tools/ office productivity equipment. Ascending / Descending: Frequently ascending or descending stairs and ladders. Observation / Eyesight: Frequently required to observe details at close range including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors.
