Senior Director of Capital Projects and Project Management Office

Position Summary: The Project Management Office ensures that administrative and institutional projects are executed effectively and efficiently, assuring delivery on time and within budget. The Director of the Project Management Office oversees the project management process including monitoring progress, prioritization, adherence to schedule, communication, and quality control. The Director provides strategic direction for projects and oversees the work of project managers, coordinates resources, coordinates contractor activities and plans, conducts and supervises implementation and completion.
Position Responsibilities: * Establish the Project Management Office's role and create a Center of Excellence in alignment with university guidelines and standards. * Work with relevant subject matter experts (SME's) to finalize project plans and budget proposals and seek approval from the relevant stakeholder/decision maker. * Seek implementation and process efficiencies to meet or exceed the financial expectations established at project initiation. * Develop, implement, and govern program management processes, dashboards, templates, policies, and metrics. * Monitor compliance with university policies and standards. * Coach and mentor project managers and share knowledge of best practices. * Coordinate project deliverables with internal stakeholders, project managers, and contractors. * Oversee delivery of projects/programs on time, within scope and on budget. * Provide the Vice President with the information needed to assess and decide which proposals have the highest potential value, impact, and strategic alignment. * Collaborate with departments to define project priorities, implementation opportunities, challenges * Communicate project updates, risks, and opportunities to the relevant stakeholders.
Experience & Education Background: * Bachelor's Degree required. * A minimum of 10 years of project management or internal operations management experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies: * Skilled at managing teams and projects in not-for-profit or higher education organizations * Skilled at managing project deliverables and timelines * Experienced in planning, organizing and the direction of a project management office and programs. * Expert-level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques, processes * Knowledge of resource management and planning tools * Excellent judgment with proven ability to identify problems and deal with complex issues. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Flexible, adaptable, and resourceful when managing changing timelines and multiple deliverables. * Demonstrated leadership ability to establish and manage a high-performance team.
Salary Range: $165,000- 180,000
