Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Prospects and generates new leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking events, referrals, and targeted marketing strategies, with a focus on both small business owners and individuals.
- Builds and maintains relationships with business owners, decision-makers, and individual clients to understand their insurance needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Conducts thorough risk assessments for both small business and personal lines clients, gathering relevant information to accurately evaluate needs and recommend comprehensive coverage.
- Prepares and presents insurance proposals, explaining coverage options, terms, and pricing clearly for both commercial and personal lines clients.
- Works with insurance carriers to obtain competitive quotes and negotiate favorable terms and pricing on behalf of clients in both commercial and personal segments.
- Closes sales and secure new accounts across both small business and personal lines, meeting or exceeding sales targets and revenue goals.
- Develops and implements strategic sales plans targeting specific industries, segments, or geographic areas for business growth, encompassing both small businesses and personal lines opportunities.
- Stays informed on industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes affecting insurance in both commercial and personal lines, providing valuable insights and recommendations to clients.
- Maintains accurate client records, policy documentation, and sales activity reports in the agency management system.
- Works closely with the service team to ensure a smooth transition of new accounts, providing ongoing support to both small business and personal lines clients.
- Fosters strong relationships with insurance carriers, underwriters, and other industry professionals across both segments to stay informed about market conditions, products, and changes in underwriting guidelines.
- Attends industry conferences, seminars, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in both commercial and personal lines sales.
- Collaborates with marketing and business development teams to create and implement effective marketing strategies and campaigns targeting both small businesses and individuals.
- Stays informed about competitors' products, pricing, and sales strategies to maintain a competitive edge in both the commercial and personal lines markets.
- Provides exceptional customer service and support to clients throughout the sales process and beyond.

- Performs special projects at management's request.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have strong knowledge of both commercial and personal lines insurance products, coverages, and underwriting guidelines.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and address unique needs.
- Must have strong networking and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage business owners, decision-makers, and individual clients.
- Must be self-motivated and results-driven, capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Must be proficient negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Must be proficient in using AMS360 CRM software, Vertafore supported insurance agency management/sales pipeline systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have a valid insurance license.
- Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members, both internal and external.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required.
- Must be able to sit at a desk for moderate periods of time and use a computer.
- Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
Education and Background
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred; relevant industry experience may be considered in place of a degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance sales, including commercial and/or personal lines required.
- Proven track record of success in generating new business and meeting or exceeding sales targets across multiple insurance lines required.
- Professional designations such as CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor) or CISR (Certified Insurance Service Representative) are a plus.
