Job Summary: The Project Manager is responsible for collaborating with other team members and stakeholders for all aspects of the project lifecycle process including project initiation, engineering, material procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout. This position is responsible for the creation and/or management of the project schedule, project budget, project resources including third-party vendors, contractors, customers, and local agencies. Responsible for the overall successful delivery of project scope, budget, and schedule. Works in tandem with the project team and the project management process and is the single point of accountability for the entire project. Identify and mitigate project risk, issues and coordinate and manage obstacles for the project team members and stakeholders. Responsible for compliance with regulatory, customer and stakeholder functional procedures during all project phases and accountable for the metric tracking of project through the different stages of the project. Essential Functions: *Serve as project point of contact regarding efforts such as coordination, strategic planning, scope management, and budgeting. *Provide overall management of projects from engineering to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout. *Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs. *Manage internal project financials (detailed, accurate project cost forecast and accruals), legal coordination, risk management, and change management. *Manage all aspects of project communication. *Work with design engineers, operations, and other stakeholders to coordinate all aspects of schedules and cost estimates. *Develop and maintain status reports for schedules, cost estimates/budgets/actuals, material delivery, and other aspects of projects. *Schedule and facilitate team meetings with engineering, construction contractors, and other stakeholders. *Provide updates to project schedules periodically for management review. *Review and ensure accuracy of invoicing for labor and materials for assigned projects. *Track material purchase orders, storeroom orders and material delivery dates for input into the schedules for assigned projects. *Update monthly cost estimates for actual costs of purchased materials and contracted labor. *Coordinate planned outage requirements for projects with operations to help facilitate scheduling and installation of the projects and minimize outage scope. *Manage conflict that arises within the project team. Basic Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Business Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. A minimum of 6 years of applicable work experience related to CenterPoint Energy's engineering and construction work practices can be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of applicable work experience in engineering, project management, construction management, or construction operations in Substation, Transmission, Major Underground, and/or Distribution in the electric utility industry. Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications: *Professional Registration or Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. *Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public contracts on project-related matters. *Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. *Ability to work independently, think creatively and analytically, and make quick and sound decisions. *Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change. *Demonstrated success in project management. *Strong proficiency in MS Office products with specific experience in Microsoft Dynamics Project Operations preferred. *Excellent written and verbal communications skills and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and external stakeholders. Competencies: 1. Working Conditions: Physical Requirements Able to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone or mobile phone. Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and crawl in confined spaces such as attics or crawl spaces. Able to exert routine physical effort on a regular basis. Able to use a variety of hand and/or power tools. Able to operate a motor vehicle and the ability to enter and exit vehicle unassisted. Working Conditions: Able to support the Emergency Operating Plan. Able to work with routine exposure to all weather conditions. Able to handle emergency situations, including possible exposure to gaseous atmospheres on occasion. Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether open office, cubicle or private office. Able to certify and don personal protective equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hardhat, gloves, protective footwear, and earplugs on a daily basis. Able to be included in random drug screen pool required for DOT safety sensitive positions. Able to work regular hours, with occasional overtime; may be required to work rotating shifts. Able to respond to call-outs and occasionally return to work while off duty. May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
