The Sponsorship Strategist works with the Strategy & Sponsorship Manager and is focused on building brand exposure for clients at live events by developing sponsorship enablement plans, playing an essential role in the association partnership strategy, activation planning, execution, and measurement of selected sponsorships. The Sponsorship Strategist must be knowledgeable of the events industry to drive both novel yet realistic sponsorship solutions for our clients. Sponsorship Strategists are tasked with maintaining strong client and association relationships, a strategic understanding of client's programs, identifying potential account growth opportunities and supporting other client marketing initiatives in the events channel. They will work with the Strategy & Sponsorship Manager and with cross functional teams to meet clients' objectives while achieving company revenue and profitability goals. In addition, they may be tasked with other strategic work for the Strategy & Measurement team, including, but not limited to, industry research, client briefs and strategic competitive audits. Job Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- High level budgeting/planning for sponsorship activations
- Understand client's goals, objectives, budgets, historical sponsorship performance and areas for improvement per conference.
- Obtain and review conference exhibit/sponsorship prospectus / first right of refusal items to determine alignment to client's program goals.
- Create presentation decks with recommended sponsorship/s. This should include alignment to objectives, rationale, projected reach and measurement strategy
- Kick-off meeting to present to brand managers/stakeholders & secure decisions
- Meet with associations to present concepts, negotiate and secure sponsorships based on direction of the client
- Once Sponsorship plan is developed:
- Secure artwork prep specs from association
- Communicate artwork prep specs and timeline
- Collect and QC artwork, deliver to association, archive artwork files
- QA proofs from association and provide approvals
- Onsite management and QC with association/ association vendor
- Project debrief / Analysis / ROI reporting / Leverage for further negotiation and learnings
- Tracking, archiving, and reporting annual projects and spend for sponsorship library
- Participates in regular client reviews and client meetings; meets with clients to foster client relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
- Assist with industry research and other services (exit interviews, strategic audits, client briefs) provided by the Strategy & Measurement team, as necessary
- Maintains a working knowledge of the general and specific trends of competitors and of the tradeshow industry.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes
- Performs other duties as assigned and deemed necessary for the position under the direction of the Strategy & Sponsorship Manager and VP of Strategy
- Travel for site visits, industry research, and client projects as needed

- Bachelor's degree, preferably business/marketing/communications emphasis or equivalent industry experience
- Prior experience with event sponsorship management required
- 4+ years prior experience working on strategic, integrated brand marketing and activation campaigns preferably in the events, trade show, or advertising industry required
- Understanding of Pharmaceutical Industry and healthcare legal/compliance implications for promotional products preferred
- Understanding of event cycles
- Working knowledge of convention centers and hotel layouts throughout the US
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop a strong rapport with the client, agencies, and other key stakeholders.
- Articulate, poised and polished with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally both verbally and in writing.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task; able to manage shifting client priorities and multiple/simultaneous client shows and projects.
- Ability to proactively provide practical solutions in an ambiguous, time sensitive, and fast paced environment.
- Ability to conduct industry/event research for various projects and disseminate the information clearly and succinctly to internal and external stakeholders
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to work closely with graphic designers as well as using templates to create final presentations and reports
- Strategic, solution-based problem-solving skills
- Strong presentation and relationship building skills and experience presenting to middle management
- Up to 30% travel
