The
Director of Maintenance and Logistics leads the logistics/yard, vehicle maintenance, and facilities maintenance areas, ensuring objectives are achieved at the lowest cost, consistent with COST's quality standards and customer requirements. This role directs and leads team members, resolves issues, sets schedules, and handles policy related issues. All work is performed efficiently, safely, and according to specifications, regulations, and guidelines. This critical exempt role is very hands-on.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prioritize, schedule, and delegate assignments to ensure production objectives are met, while managing costs, inventory, labor, quality, and deadlines. Plan, assign, and direct work.
- Lead, develop, and coach supervisors and others by providing overall direction and coordination. Ensure the responsibilities of direct reports align with and support company KPIs, policies, and applicable laws.
- Interview, hire, and train employees, with HR's assistance. Appraise, reward, and manage performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems/conflicts within assigned teams.
- Continually evaluate processes and methods, to recommend and implement improvements related to equipment, performance, utilization of team members, workflows, and quality standards.
- Develop plans to maximize the utilization of materials, equipment, and employees.
- Complete required documentation such as reports, timecards, quality records, etc.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments for seamless execution of projects.
- Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
- Modify production and inventory programs to maintain and enhance accuracy and profitability.
- Keep abreast of relevant information to resolve operational and maintenance issues, ensuring minimal costs and delays.
- Ensure proper maintenance of all equipment and buildings; establish housekeeping standards.
- Collaborate with the safety manager on policy and procedure creation, enforcement, and compliance including OSHA, sanitation, environmental, and various regulatory agencies.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in production, manufacturing, or operations management or engineering
- Effective leadership skills including motivating others and collaborating with all internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to promote and implement organizational policies and procedures
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing project requirements, deadlines, and requirements
- Excellent communication skills, including listening, verbal, presentation, and written
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, regulations, business documents and reports, procedure manuals, and blueprints
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet navigation
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence
- Ability to interact with managers, customers, and other stakeholders
- Ability to use and work with math concepts, such as probability and statistics; able to apply algebra, fractions, percentages, ratios, etc.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret technical instructions that are in mathematical or diagram form and manage abstract and concrete variables

- Production shop and logistics yard environments include exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, and machinery noise (moderate to loud)
- Overtime is required, depending on the project deadline
