Data Entry Technician Job Summary: Responsible for all clerical work associated with the business end of the company to include filing, cross-checking of billing logs, and office related duties. This position is authorized for sample log-in, data entry, mail out and faxing of final reports and client information after appropriate training is confirmed. Essential Responsibilities: 1. Data entry for all customer laboratory testing information 2. Daily sample log-in and interfacing with clients regarding sample receipt, final reports, and mail outs 3. Answering the phone and dispersing client calls to appropriate personnel 4. Be aware of processes, procedures or techniques in accordance with the Food Safety Net Services Methods Manual, Quality Manual, Chemical Hygiene Plan, Safety Manual and approved laboratory procedures as they relate to the administrative functions of the laboratory 5. Assist in the management of inventory and equipment maintenance. 6. Work with lab management on administrative duties as requested 7. Assisting with managing priorities and schedule such that individual goals as well as team goals are achieved with encouraged participation in the Food Safety Net Services Team 8. Responsible for the safety of oneself and others working within their area 9. Responsible for the completion of required training Education & Experience: * Two years of experience in customer relations to include clerical duties and data entry preferred * BS degree in business or related field preferred Or equivalent combination of education and experience * Applied business experience with multiple food related companies preferred * Laboratory and retail experience preferred * Training in general laboratory practices * Must be able to work Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Language Skills: * Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos * Writing skills to include simple correspondence * Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization Mathematical Skills:: * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. * Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability & Independent Judgment: * Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. * Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Supervision: * Has no supervisory responsibilities Physical Demands/Work Environment: * Sitting for extended periods of time * Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components * Color vision and depth perception * Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. * Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens * Noise level varies from quiet to loud * Temperature varies from hot to cold * Interactive and fast-paced team oriented tasks General Requirements: * Strong organizational skills and ability to execute manual detailed tasks * Flexible schedules * Working with strong odors and within other normal laboratory environmental conditions * Ability to analyze and interpret data * Prolonged sitting, viewing of computer screens * Work under stress with interruptions and deadlines * Ability to think logically * Ability to type at least 35 words per minute and demonstrate excellent attention to detail |
