The Nayak Research Group at UMKC is a scientific leader in the prenatal field of translational research on fetal development, immunobiology of pregnancy, gene expression, and pregnancy-related disease. This team actively collaborates with regional and national institutions that lead to high quality, efficient and effective breakthroughs in clinical and translational research.

Job Description

The Nayak Research Group in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UMKC seeks a full-time Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. The successful candidate will engage in research exploring the molecular mechanisms underlying placental development, maternal-fetal immunology, fetal brain development, and vascular complications associated with pregnancy disorders. This position offers an opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative research environment supported by state-of-the-art facilities at UMKC and its partner institutes in the Kansas City area. Team members are integral contributors to research publications and will have the opportunity to participate in externally funded research collaboration and translational opportunities.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree with experience in related medical and/or biological research.

Preferred qualifications include two years of postdoctoral experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: placental biology, tissue-specific gene targeting, immunobiology of pregnancy and graft-versus-host disease, neurodevelopmental biology, tumor immunology, and animal models of pregnancy-related diseases.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is negotiable and commensurate with verified qualifications, experience and evidence of success in research. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible, unranked academic position.

Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Effective July 1, 2025, all individuals with a 12-Month Post-doctoral appointment will receive paid leave benefits while serving in the academic position. These benefits include:
