GENERAL PURPOSE

This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the finance activities for the Legrand AV Operations globally, including operation facilities, distribution centers and subcontracting operations generating $700M revenue globally. Assuming the role of the business partner within the organization the Director of Operations Finance is expected to develop and enhance the finance function beyond that of controllership and reporting into one that proactively interprets and addresses both the strategic and operational needs of the business. The role will provide business partnering leadership to the Legrand AV operational and supply chain leadership team in pursuit of business goals and objectives. The role will report to the VP of Finance for Legrand AV and dotted line to the Snr VP of Operations AV.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Serve as a key strategic partner to the executive leadership team by delivering timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights to support high-impact decision-making aligned with divisional and enterprise-wide objectives.
  • Lead the global finance operations team, translating financial and operational metrics into strategies that drive sustainable growth, productivity, and profitability.
  • Develop actionable short- and long-term forecasts and strategies aligning to business needs.
  • Drive supply chain cost optimization strategies to mitigate financial pressures from volatile global trade environment.

Operational Excellence & Financial Stewardship

  • Oversee the monthly financial close process and operational performance reviews, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with corporate reporting standards.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities within business performance; develop and execute mitigation or optimization strategies to enhance financial outcomes and organizational efficiency.
  • Champion robust internal controls and compliance frameworks across all financial and operational activities to mitigate risk and support audit readiness.

Capital Strategy & Investment Oversight

  • Direct capital planning processes, including ROI analysis, prioritization, and approval of capital investments. Evaluate and recommend investments that align with long-term strategic goals, improve asset utilization, and optimize return on capital employed.
  • Monitor and manage capital project execution and lifecycle tracking, ensuring compliance with budget and strategic intent while maintaining integrity of asset records.

Business Partnership & Value Creation

  • Act as a strategic advisor to operational and supply chain leaders, driving fact-based decision-making on key issues such as make-vs-buy, inventory optimization, labor productivity, and logistics cost management.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to uncover cost reduction opportunities and implement productivity improvements, leveraging data-driven insights to influence operational change and margin expansion.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team by fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to direct and indirect reports.
  • Drive organizational capability by recruiting top talent, enhancing bench strength, and aligning team structure with business needs and growth trajectory.

Process Optimization & Change Management

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, efficient financial processes and systems to support evolving business requirements.
  • Drive transformational initiatives by identifying process gaps, defining requirements, and leading cross-functional change management through stabilization and continuous improvement.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to corporate policies, regulatory standards, and ethical guidelines. Promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and transparency across all levels of the organization.
  • Champion workplace safety and employee well-being by supporting proactive risk management and participating in organizational safety programs.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Technical and Functional Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP and international standards), financial control frameworks, and operational finance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost accounting, financial analysis, capital investment evaluation, and business case development.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to synthesize data from across functions to drive actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Experienced in leading or supporting ERP systems implementations or enhancements; advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal controls in a publicly traded company environment.

Cross-Functional & Operational Insight:

  • Broad understanding of manufacturing operations and cross-functional dependencies, with the ability to partner effectively across operations, supply chain, IT, and commercial teams.
  • Experience designing and executing business plans and operational strategies with a focus on margin improvement, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Skilled at navigating corporate and divisional structures to align financial operations with broader enterprise objectives.

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 5 years in operational finance or accounting leadership roles (Controller, Assistant Controller, or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years of direct manufacturing industry experience required; public company experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct people management with demonstrated success in developing and leading finance teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • Experience in cost accounting within manufacturing operations.
  • Track record of supporting or leading IT/ERP integrations or finance system transformation initiatives.
  • Advanced data analysis skills and the ability to leverage technology for financial reporting and operational insights.

Travel Requirements:

  • A willingness to travel approximately 25% to key manufacturing locations, with occasional international travel as needed.

Physical & Work Environment:

  • Standard office-based work environment with occasional travel and extended work hours to support global operations.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods and perform keyboard-intensive tasks; occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs may be required.

The expected salary range for this position is $185,000-$205,000 annually.

The offered compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to level of experience, certifications/education, training, and work location. This position is eligible for variable incentive pay based on company performance.
