On-Call Construction Engineer

Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a part-time position is available for an On-Call Construction Engineer to work with our Aviation Group. Hours and length of position will be based on company needs but can run from early spring to early fall as weather permits. The hours for this position could vary weekly from 0 to 30, potentially sometimes more than 30, and may occasionally exceed 40. Since this position is part-time, there are no benefits. This opportunity is based in the state of Michigan and at various project sites as needed.

Responsibilities include:

• Construction administration on airfield pavement, building and electrical systems projects
• Coordination of survey work and materials testing
• Representing the owner in monitoring construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications
• Assisting with progress meetings
• Visiting project sites to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents
• May serve as onsite project representative
• May assist with client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects
• May attend client meetings - days or nights
• Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver's license, overnight stays, and travel may be required.

The successful candidate will have the following:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
• At least 1 year of relevant experience

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:

• At least 5 or more years of relevant experience
• EIT or PE preferred
• Previous work experience in aviation engineering projects
