The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Sr Product Quality Engineer.

Job Summary

The Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer is a fully accountable quality leader for suppliers and commodities, driving quality performance from the earliest design discussions through volume production and into the field. The role balances proactive risk prevention with effective issue resolution and uses data to identify trends and eliminate root causes. Working cross-functionally with design, purchasing, production, and warranty teams, the Sr. Supplier Quality Engineer serves as the plant's and the customer's voice in all supplier interactions, ensuring that motorcycles roll off the line with parts that meet strict reliability, safety, and performance standards.

Job Responsibilities

NPI / Launch Phase:



  • Lead supplier APQP processes and ensure timely PPAP completion.
  • Conduct PFMEA reviews and control plan alignment with critical risk areas.
  • Validate run-at-rate and capability studies during production ramp-up.
  • Drive lessons learned from previous launches into new sourcing projects


Production / Sustaining:



  • Serve as the primary contact for supplier quality escalations.
  • Lead problem-solving activities using 8D, 5 Whys, and Ishikawa techniques.
  • Manage supplier audits and develop corrective action plans.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs (PPM, responsiveness, defect trends) and escalate as needed.


Warranty / Field Feedback:



  • Analyze warranty claim data and coordinate with suppliers on root cause and permanent corrective actions.
  • Validate field fix implementations and track reoccurrence rates.
  • Present supplier quality performance reviews, linking warranty outcomes to production root causes.
  • Ensure that systemic issues uncovered in the field are traced and addressed upstream.



Education Requirments



  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required



Experience Requirements



  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or NPI.
  • Perform other SQ-related activities as needed.
  • A bachelor's degree or relevant technical experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FMEA, control plans, and 8D.
  • ASQ certification preferred.
  • Proficient with GD&T, SPC, and ISO/IATF quality systems.
  • Able to lead problem-solving with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Comfortable working in plant and supplier environments.
  • Willing to travel up to 50%, including supplier visits.
