Site Lead Operator

Huntsman is seeking a Site Lead Operator supporting Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Sr. Operations Manager.

Job Scope

Leads the Day Operator OMCs on site to deliver prioritized maintenance requests to the maintenance planners while supporting the Shift Supervisors with emergency response and absence coverage. Key performance indicators will include Day Operator OMC Backlog management, Shift Supervisor Absence Coverage, and Maintenance Schedule Compliance.

In summary, as the Site Lead Operator, you will:

  • Promote a safe work environment, including good housekeeping habits.
  • Manage assigned production employees in the areas of orientation, work assignments, training compliance, employee development, and performance management, including coaching, counseling, performance reviews, and corrective actions.
  • Manage the Day Operator OMCs on-site to deliver prioritized and well written maintenance requests to the maintenance planners.
  • Manage the Day Operator OMCs to reduce their personal backlog and maintain well-managed SAP work ques.
  • Manage the Day Operator OMCs to ensure area maintenance activities to meet regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Review and Approve ECPs for scheduled maintenance work in your assigned area and assign ECPs to on-shift operators in partnership with the Shift Supervisors and the Day Operator OMCs.
  • Manages the Day Operator OMCs to ensure equipment is cleared, locked out and ready for scheduled maintenance.
  • Assist on-shift operators with Hot Work, Start Work, and Confined Space Entry Permits with writing responsibility for Excavation Permits.
  • Assist the on-shift operators when time allows with routine permits.
  • Maintain expertise and ownership of RAPNET system.
  • Attends daily maintenance update meeting.
  • Works with the Maintenance Planners to ensure the maintenance schedule is filled with the highest priority work for the site by creating a cohesive team that all work together to deliver the most critical maintenance activity with the Site's overall performance being considered.
  • Responsible as the area contact for T&Is and shutdowns as assigned.
  • Adjust priorities and activity to meet dynamically changing site needs.
  • Work under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, Production Manager or any other member of management as needs dictate.
  • Fill in as needed to cover the role of the Day Operator OMC for the other Day Operator OMC in your department.
  • Fill in as needed to cover Shift Supervisor absences.
  • Quickly escalates issues to the Shift Supervisor, Production Manager or On-Call person.
  • Assist in emergency response activities as directed by the incident commander.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Process Technology with 5+ years of direct experience in operations leadership, preferably in a chemical plant.
  • In lieu of an associate degree, a high school diploma with 10+ years of direct experience in operations leadership will be considered, preferably in a chemical plant.
  • Must have a proficient level of computer literacy, including the use of internet, email, and Microsoft Office programs to enable effective communication.
  • Must develop proficiency in managing work requests in SAP and maintaining the OMC backlog.

Skills and knowledge

  • Must be able to direct and delegate work fairly to a wide variety of personnel.
  • Must be able to develop leadership skills and lead a highly effective team.
