Material Handler / Saw Operator

The MATERIAL HANDLER will provide administrative support, receive incoming materials, and serve as back-up saw operator to set up and operate metal sawing machines such as hacksaw, bandsaw, circular saw, friction saw, and high speed hot saw to cut metal stock to required dimensions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:

• Pulls documents from share drive, scans documents and performs data entry as required to track department inventory.
• Maintains a strong attention to detail to ensure accurate data is entered into systems and/or spreadsheets.
• Seeks out opportunities to improve processes.
• Reads job orders for specifications including material, type, size of stock, and required cut dimensions.
• Obtains and transfers stock to the correct staging area.
• Installs saw blades and sets blade tension and cutting speed for specified operation.
• Adjusts and sets saw blade angles to obtain desired angle cuts.
• Sets the stops and guides to control dimension of cut.
• Measures work to ensure conformity to specifications.
• Marks identifying data on workpieces.
• Replaces defective cutting blades or wheel as needed.
• Keeps the raw material area secure and maintains the areas organization.
• Ensure the material area remains clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Operates fork truck to unload raw material from delivery truck.
• Receives and verifies new incoming raw material.
• Responsible for maintaining material certification documentation.
• Deburs stock before advancing jobs to the next phase.
• Able to manage Bridge Crane Operations as required.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
• Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High School Degree or GED diploma
• 1-2 years' manufacturing experience is preferred.
  

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, data entry, and able to work with spreadsheets.
• Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to think independently.
• Must be able to work in other areas on an as needed basis.
• Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Show initiative in work by being a self-starter, suggesting new ideas for completing a job, giving input as to how to improve the efficiency of a job, and organizing work time in order to complete jobs in a timely matter.

1st shift: Monday- Friday 7:00AM - 3:30PM + overtime as needed.
