Summary
Are you interested in using your professional expertise to help develop and prepare future healthcare leaders? The College of Global Population Health (COGPH) at University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis is seeking an adjunct instructor(s) to create and teach courses for our BS in Healthcare Administration and Management (HCAM) program.

We are looking for the selected adjunct(s) to create HCAM 3301 Strategic Healthcare Operations during the summer and fall of 2025 and then teach the course in-person during the spring 2026 semester (January - May). In addition, we are looking for an adjunct to develop HCAM 4401 Healthcare Finance during spring and summer 2026 and teach the course in-person in the fall 2026 semester (August - December).

Strategic Healthcare Operations is the introduction to evidence-based management in healthcare environments. Students will learn about the key aspects of how healthcare organizations function from both strategic and operational management perspectives. By the end of this course, they'll know how to implement these aspects to optimize processes leading to the achievement of goals, improved efficiencies and better patient outcomes.

Healthcare Finance teaches students how to apply concepts of finance and accounting in healthcare organizations. Students will learn about financial management and revenue generation, develop practical skills including the use of necessary tools for financial analysis and how to make informed decisions based on said analysis. By the end of this course, students will be able to perform analysis, interpret results and apply quantitative reasoning to financially related decisions.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education for course development and teaching. The ideal candidate will be able to develop the course remotely and then teach the course that they have developed in person.

You will have the opportunity to:
  • Develop and design the course, create and deliver lectures, prepare and administer assessments, and conduct the grading of all course-related work.
  • Provide dynamic and effective teaching of a 3-credit hour healthcare administration courses.
  • Be available for contact by students at arranged times out of class.
  • Communicate regularly with full-time faculty in the COGPH at UHSP, especially the Program Director of the Healthcare Administration program.
  • Follow UHSP teaching and faculty guidelines for adjunct faculty.


Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master's degree or Ph.D. in healthcare administration or a closely related field (e.g. Business Administration, Public Health, Social Work, etc., with demonstrated knowledge of course subject matter.)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate level preferred.
  • Willingness to incorporate diversity, cultural-competency and social justice into teaching.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated expertise or experience teaching undergraduate students
  • Proficiency with learning management systems such as D2L Brightspace
  • Course development of undergraduate courses in an academic setting
