Alta Dena Dairy has immediate job openings for skilled plant maintenance mechanic - Utility and Refrigeration, responsible for repairs and maintaining machinery including electro/mechanical equipment such as compressors, condensers, evaporator coils, expansion devices, ammonia: vessels and lines, valves: solenoid, globe, butterfly, shut off, suction stop, expansion, check, modulating & three way, ice builders, glycol chillers, boilers, steam: shell & tube, lines and traps, air compressors, pumps: 3 phase 480v, centrifugal, positive, peristaltic, and pneumatic, VFDs, AC drives, regulators, sensors, and other technologies by performing the following duties. Our Mechanics can make up to based on experience: $37.12/hr Schedule: 2nd Shift - 10:00AM - 6:30PM, Sun - Thurs (Fri and Sat off) Duties and responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on Steam Boilers, Air Compressors, Cooling Towers and all related utility equipment
- Conduct monthly compressed air audits
- Troubleshoot equipment problems accurately and efficiently
- Create & complete work orders in a timely manner to the highest quality standards
- Daily scanning of all work performed and updating notes via tablet or work terminal
- Maintain complete personal tool inventory necessary to perform basic job functions
- Maintain ammonia, glycol, and ice water cooling temperatures in all areas of the plant
- Maintain plant required boiler steam pressure
- Maintain plant required air pressure
- Test and record water treatment chemistry for all related equipment and provide feed-back to staff and Water Treatment contractor
- General plumbing and pipe fitting required
- Continually control, monitor, and inspect all maintenance duties for conformance to specifications and standards on all plant equipment
- Coordinate and/or supervise contractors or third-party vendors as necessary to maintain equipment efficiency, reliability and regulatory compliance
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
- Suggests changes in working procedures and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew
- Delegate maintenance labor tasks for maximum efficiency and coverage
- Understand and enforce manufacturing regulations regarding safety, quality and G.M.P.s that will provide employees with a safe working environment and produce high quality products

Qualified candidates will have good oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with key co-workers, including department managers, line operators, quality assurance personnel and contractors.
- Company policies, standards, and specifications
- Safety policies and procedures for equipment operation
- Proficient use of a Volt-Ohm meter
- Competent with arc and gas welding, brazing and soldering
- AC Electrical distribution from switch gear to motor control.
- DC control wiring and maintenance
- Boilers, steam distribution and water treatment
- Proficient Ammonia refrigeration, evaporators and condensers
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Perform mechanical tasks efficiently
- Safely maintain and repair all utility related plant equipment
- Work with minimum supervision

- Maintain excellent attendance
- Read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics and service manuals
- Maintain the facilities RMP /CalARP programs including PSM and PHA
Experience and Education:
- High school education
- Trade schoolcollege courses that applies to this position's requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial or industrial refrigeration and/or HVAC systems
- Knowledge of water treatment chemistry used in closed and open loop cooling systems used in industrial applications
- Working knowledge of steam boiler systems used in industrial applications
- Ability to obtain an Ammonia Operator level 1 certification within 1 year
Physical Standards:
- Ability to withstand prolonged walking and standing
- Able to withstand changes in temperature from 30 F up to 120 F
- Able to lift up to 100 pounds
- Able to operate a forklift safely
