Electrical Estimator

Position Overview: The primary function of the Estimator is to perform accurate and timely estimates for various construction projects. Preference will be given to candidates that possess the skill to conceptual estimate. The Estimator is responsible for determining how much a project would cost, how much revenue the project should generate and work closely with the Operations Manager to make sure the Estimate meets all financial needs: labor costs, material costs, equipment rental, manufacturing locations, facility costs, required permits, and any licensing. The Estimator is responsible for building relationships with General Contractors and Suppliers by attending industry functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend pre-bid and pre-proposal meetings.
  • Manage contractor and owner correspondence and relationships.
  • Ensure adequate supplier coverage and confirm the proper scope of the supplier and document accordingly.
  • Review and clearly understand the scope of work in order to accurately estimate the project.
  • Reviews specs and plans for scope and ensures they are complete, initiates requests for information (RFIs) as needed for accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Reviews historical job cost of similar past projects for labor production adjustments.
  • Assists pre-construction services with concept estimates, budget cost summary report, and customer proposal as needed and directed.
  • Assists in project schedule development and communication of project information to superintendent
  • Prepare final estimate based on the drawings and any subsequent addenda.
  • Submit the estimate at the proper due date and time.
  • Participate in estimate turn-over meeting with the Project Manager (PM) and Foreman.
  • Occasionally assist PMs with verification of change order quantities and/or pricing.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator or similar position.
  • Must know software programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings for a complete and accurate estimate.
  • Must be organized, accurate and have excellent attention to detail.
  • Familiar with On Screen Take-off and MS Project Scheduler.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3+ years prior experience completing conceptual estimates.
  • 3+ years experience performing quantify take-offs to entering into estimating software program such as TRF/Cert-in.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Familiar with ground-up construction drawings and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills.

Salary: $90,000- $120,000 annually, depending on experience (DOE)

Schedule: 6:00AM-4:00PM, Monday-Thursday and 6:00AM-3:00PM on Fridays; one hour lunch each day.

FLSA Status: Exempt
