This opportunity is for a Program Supervisor (County Casework Supervisor) to manage a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program. This is a recovery program for individuals 18 and older who are living with a mental illness. Psych Rehab assists individuals to pursue personally-valued roles in their living, learning, working, or social environments. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position serves as the Program Supervisor for the Psychiatric Rehabilitation (Psych Rehab) Program. Services are provided to adult consumers in such a manner to encourage self-reliance and independence. The program provides psychiatric rehabilitation services to qualified individuals in their home, in the community, and in a facility-based program. This position is responsible for providing direct management and oversight of the program and direct supervision of staff and services. Work involves developing and implementing programming for the participants, attending relevant trainings, working with state personnel to keep updated on best practices, as well as providing direction to staff and participants in topics of recovery and rehabilitation. This position gives the incumbent the opportunity to work with the County Casework Manager 2 regarding program planning and development for psychiatric rehabilitation. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Hiring, training, and evaluating staff to carry out program duties and responsibilities
  • Reviewing with each employee all relevant performance standards in relation to the job tasks and conducting progress reviews
  • Coaching and mentoring staff to improve performance as well as disciplining staff when needed by following agency processes and policies
  • Evaluating and completing probationary and annual performance evaluations
  • Reviewing staff paperwork including monthly timesheets, expense reports, and requests
  • Completing timesheets, expense reports, work orders, and purchase request orders for Psychiatric Rehabilitation
  • Providing programmatic and case specific direction within the psych rehab principles and practices
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations and resources
  • Incorporating the Psych Rehab principles in all program practices
  • Developing and maintaining best practices for Psych Rehab record keeping
  • Developing and maintaining program policies and procedures, program planning, and service implementation
  • Supervising the provision of case management services provided to participants in the program
  • Monitoring records as well as preparing reports and correspondence
  • Ensuring all required documentation and reports are completed accurately
  • Working as a specialist for the Psych Rehab program to provide recovery-oriented services to individuals
  • Assisting participants to develop, enhance, and retain skills in the areas of living, learning, working, and socialization so that participants can live in an environment of choice and participate in the community
  • Engaging participants in the day-to-day operation of the program to promote skill development
  • Assessing and setting goals with participants
  • Documenting positive outcomes and submitting progress reports
  • Serving as direct support for member activities
  • Providing transportation for members to attend program activities
  • Helping to arrange and coordinate transportation from other sources when available
  • Coordinating with universities and colleges in developing field placement and training programs for social work and psychology students
  • Developing rapport and fostering positive working relationships with volunteers, home providers, family members, and other staff
  • Participating in presentations to community organizations
  • Serving as a member of the Mental Health Management Team

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • On occasion, management staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
