Superintendent, Rio Tinto Services Inc., Bingham Canyon, UT:

Oversee the safe execution of underground activities performed by all members of the underground team. Risk assesses, develop, and maintain Safe Working Procedures required for operation. Assist in the establishment of infrastructure to support new and future mine development for dewatering, electrical, communications, and secondary egress systems. Undertake regular inspections to ensure that all standards, policies and procedures are complied with in the operations area. Provide support and guidance to the mine technical service team. Ensure the mine plan is executed safely and effectively, according to schedule, while optimising safety, cost and performance. Identify, recommend, and implement potential improvements for the underground mining operations.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience in underground mining. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept an additional 2 years of experience in underground mining.

Must have 5 years of experience in:

  • Underground leadership and supervision;
  • Managing safety improvement programs; and,
  • Assessing risks, developing and maintaining Safe Working Procedures required for operation.

Must have 3 years of experience in:

  • Effective Face Utilization in metalliferous drill & blast mining;
  • Optimizing longhole open stoping;
  • Contractor management to ensure that all standards, policies and procedures are complied with in the operation;
  • Contractor management to ensure that the mine plan is executed safely and effectively, according to schedule, while optimizing safety, cost and performance; and,
  • With U.S. regulatory systems, such as MSHA and EPA.

Domestic travel required up to 5%.
