Division of Student Affairs, Counseling Services Job Description
The University of Missouri Kansas City Roo Wellness Counseling Services is looking for qualified candidates for a Training Coordinator/Staff Psychologist. This position will provide oversight of our APA accredited pre-doctoral internship and generalist duties of a staff psychologist as described below. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Training Coordinator * Administers training program in accordance with standards of accreditation and guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA); ensures adherence to standards of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC). * Assists with writing/preparing self-studies, facilitating site visits in person or over Zoom, gathering and preparing APA annual reporting data, communicating substantive changes to the Commission on Accreditation (CoA), and compiling and submitting evaluation data as required. * Coordinates the internship selection process through the APPIC Match. Includes advertising, reviewing applications, interviewing, submitting a rank order list, on-boarding, maintaining contact with interns' home academic program, completing evaluations, sustaining records, etc. * Organizes all intern activities including August orientation, and determination of special focus rotations, seminar leaders, professional development seminar speakers and schedules, and weekly Training Coordinator Meeting. * Coordinates supervisory assignments for interns and practicum students, including providing administrative support and direction to clinical supervisors; communicating training-related policies and updates; facilitating bimonthly supervisors and staff meeting to solicit formal and informal feedback on interns' performances. * Facilitates weekly group supervision/case conference for the doctoral intern cohort; providing additional clinical supervision and crisis supervision as needed. * Schedules interns' formal presentations, including obtaining feedback from staff and other trainees. * Obtains and compiles mid- and end-of-year performance-related evaluations of trainees and maintains trainee records, in accordance with accreditation standards and requirements. * Maintains all training related public and internal materials annually and as needed, including training program website pages, program brochures and manuals, and training seminar syllabi, etc. in accordance with accreditation and national standards. * Develops new training programs as needed and in accordance with Counseling Services' capacity. * Maintains active memberships in the American Psychological Association (APA), the Association of Counseling Center Training Agencies (ACCTA), and the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) * Evaluates the efficacy of the training program and implements appropriate changes and enhancements that satisfy accreditation requirements and the service needs of the Center. * Oversees all aspects of the Counseling Services Masters/PhD Practicum Program. This includes advertising, reviewing of applications, conducting interviews, and selection process. * Maintains training files on all Masters/PhD Practicum students and ensure semester evaluations are completed and returned to trainees' academic programs. * Maintains professional relationships with local academic programs and inform them about our training opportunities, including attending practicum and master's internship informational meetings. * Ensures timely completion of evaluations of trainees. * Oversees remediation activities when necessary. Staff psychologist * Provide multiculturally competent and ethical clinical treatment that values, respects, and celebrates students representing different intersecting identities and individual differences. * Determine clinical disposition for appropriate services, formulate treatment plans, conduct risk assessment, develop safety plans, and coordinate all aspects of client care/treatment. * Provide individual and where qualified, relationship/couples' Initial Consultations * Provide ongoing individual and where qualified, relationship/couples' therapy services. * Provide Crisis Walk In Consultation Services. * Provide process and psycho-educational group therapy services. * Provide Educational Workshops. * Provide Outreach and Psycho-educational Prevention Programming regarding mental health and wellness practices (student orientations, classroom presentations, tabling, fairs, screenings, interviews, articles, Human Resource Presentations, etc. * Provide Consultation Services to faculty, staff, parents, students, and community members regarding mental health concerns and questions. * Provide Clinical Supervision to Masters and/or Doctoral level trainees/interns. * Complete legally and ethically required clinical documentation (initial consultation reports, progress notes, Psychological Assessment reports, information for legal proceedings, verification of attendance, termination summaries, clinical letters (withdrawal processes, academic appeal, financial aid appeal, etc.), Release of Information Forms, supervision notes, etc. * Provide Clinical Management Services supporting continuity of care with both UMKC Offices and external providers such as psychotropic medication management, health assessments regarding eating disorders, physical health issues impacting mental health, securing referrals for continued care after a student leaves UMKC or when outside the scope of our service delivery model, social service needs such as food insecurity, homelessness, transportation, legal services, etc. * Provide Professional Development training to staff and interns as needed. * Complete required State of Missouri required continuing education credits to maintain license to practice in the state of Missouri. * Complete required university/Human Resources trainings. * Potential future duties include leadership within the office and on campus, including: o Attend university and divisional meetings. o Serve on delegated university committees. * Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Licensed Psychologist within the State of Missouri. Preferred Qualifications
o Candidate must have completed an APA-Accredited Doctoral internship in psychology. o 3+ years' post-licensure experience providing clinical supervision and training at the doctoral and/or post-doctoral level. o 3+ years' experience providing clinical services to a diverse population of students at a university counseling center. o Strong leadership and excellent organizational, administrative, written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to prepare comprehensive data reports. o Extensive knowledge of evidence-based and culturally informed clinical services and brief therapy; ability to assess, manage, and ensure high quality clinical service provision, including significant knowledge and experience with crisis management and legal and ethical decision-making. o Competency in presentation and spreadsheet software; ability to use scheduling and charting database; Zoom Workplace or other HIPAA compliant video platform. o Demonstrated 2+years' experience in a leadership role in a university counseling center. o Experience with APA/CoA reaccreditation process (our program is accredited through 2032) o Active full licensure as a psychologist in the State of Kansas. Anticipated Hiring Range
Anticipated hiring range between $90,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. Application Deadline
