Job Purpose:

Coordinate and execute benchtop and pilot plant activities within the team so that new or refined products can be developed efficiently and effectively.

This is a hybrid role based out of Northbrook, IL.



Key Accountabilities:

* Responsible for daily activities associated with the development of prototypes, identification and completion of simple formulation or process amendments, and execution of benchtop and pilot plant trials, as directed by the Product Development Manager.
* Document process parameters, collect analytical data, summarize findings, and identify potential issues, proposing creative solutions where possible.
* Coordiante and prepare items for tastings.
* Attend and lead industrial trials as needed, providing insights and problem-solving solutions based on technical learnings on the pilot level.
* Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices in food production areas.
* Help organize and maintain the R&D Kitchen and Pilot Plant, including equipment, inventory, supplies, and scheduling resources.
* Effectively work on cross-functional teams and be able to clearly express technical perspective to achieve team goals.
* Other duties as assigned.



Desired Skills and Background:

* Bachelor of Science in Food Science or related.
* Ability to follow detailed recipes and processes.
* Must be organized, collaborative, results-oriented, and possess strong critical thinking skills.
* Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and adversity.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Must demonstrate a passion for food, and curiosity around potential challenges.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to travel up to 15% of the time domestically with the potential for an international trip.

As of the date of this posting, the estimated pay range for this role is $77k-$80k plus eligibility to participate in the annual discretionary bonus plan. The actual pay for the position will be determined by various factors, including but not limited to job-related experience, skills, education, location, and internal equity. This range may be subject to change over time.
