Job Summary Senior Director, Tax Accounting (Remote or Hybrid in NY, NY). A Senior Director position is available at one of the world's best fragrance and flavors companies. This role will report directly to the VP, Global Head of Tax, and will focus on leading our tax accounting team and providing strategic guidance on tax accounting matters as well as process improvements. - Responsible for leading quarterly and year-end reporting of the corporate income tax provision, uncertain tax positions, and effective tax rate for US GAAP, ensuring compliance with ASC 740.
- Ensure accuracy of the reported and forecasted effective tax rate and cash taxes globally, and communicate and explain key results to executive leadership and other finance team stakeholders.
- Develop and implement tax accounting policies and procedures, including process improvements, optimal utilization of OneSource Tax Provision software globally, to ensure compliance with US GAAP and tax laws and regulations.
- Partner with corporate tax colleagues in areas of tax compliance, planning, M&A, and controversy to advise on tax accounting considerations and treatment of relevant tax implications under ASC 740.
- Provide guidance, support, and critical review oversight to the tax accounting team on tax accounting matters, including SOX-related and other internal controls.
- Monitor changes in US GAAP/SEC requirements on income tax accounting as well as material tax laws and regulations, and ensure the tax accounting team is aware of these changes.
- Participate in the tax leadership team to set strategic direction for the tax department, drive engagement and growth of team members, and lead execution of key priorities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders as well as external advisors & financial statement auditors.
- Lead various cross-functional initiatives within the finance organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, tax, or a related field. Master's in taxation or accounting is a plus.
- CPA certification is preferred.
- 10+ years of diverse global tax experience, with a focus on tax accounting with Big 4 accounting firm experience and corporate/in-house experience with a US-based multinational public company.
- Extensive experience with tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740 for public US-based multinational corporations.
- Experience with tax accounting aspects of divestitures, acquisitions, and other M&A a plus.
- Strong knowledge of tax accounting software and systems, including OneSource Tax Provision software and ERP systems.
- Experience in implementing process improvements and effectively utilizing tax technology is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to be hands-on, resourceful, detail-oriented, and results-oriented.
- Proven experience in leading, managing, developing, and motivating high-performance, diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Must have the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, internal and external. Project management skills are critical.
- Compensation ($233 - $270K base) is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and location.
