Senior Consulting Director - Lab and Blood Operations

Summary:

In this role, you will serve as a strategic consulting leader in lab and blood operations, using your deep expertise to drive complex, high-impact projects that deliver measurable value to our clients. You will guide teams, shape insights through data, influence senior decision-makers, and help grow our consulting capabilities through thought leadership and business development.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor in lab and blood operations, guiding the strategic direction of related projects and ensuring alignment with client goals and industry best practices.

  • Use your depth and breadth of experience to lead increasingly complex initiatives, oversee team deliverables, and ensure the successful execution of high-value consulting engagements.

  • Translate analytical findings into strategic insights that influence client decision-making, train and mentor consultants on data interpretation and storytelling.

  • Guide less experienced consultants in applying complex techniques and best practices in both analytics and operations.

  • Direct teams in conducting in-depth analyses to address challenges in lab and blood services, delivering recommendations that improve performance and outcomes.

  • Lead multiple projects or large-scale engagements from planning to execution, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget-while overseeing significant project Profit & Loss (P&L).

  • Communicate compelling business cases and strategic recommendations with clarity and confidence to senior executives to influence change and drive decisions.

  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with senior leaders, including C-suite stakeholders, serving as a strategic partner in lab and blood operations.

  • Identify opportunities for additional consulting support, contribute to business development activities, and support proposal and solution development efforts.

  • Contribute to thought leadership by sharing expertise, publishing insights, attending industry events, and developing new service offerings relevant to lab and blood operations.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant degree preferred. Advanced degree desired.

  • 7 or more years relevant experience required. (e.g., Working with clinical and quality improvements, preferably in a healthcare or consulting services environment)

  • Extensive experience and subject matter expertise in laboratory and blood operations, with a strong understanding of industry practices, operational challenges, and strategic opportunities required.

  • Experience managing complex project budgets, timelines, work plans and deliverables required.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data, identify opportunities, develop actionable insights, and proficiently manage projects with a results-oriented mindset required.

  • Experience working with complex healthcare/hospital clients preferred.

  • Professional presence and executive communications with a successful record in developing client relationships at all levels.

  • Demonstrated success advancing teams toward a common goal using structured Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies, Kaizen events or other process improvement activities desired.

  • Willingness to travel.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $236,600.00.

This position is also incentive eligible.
