Fishbeck is seeking entry-level Surveyor I candidates to support field and office survey operations in our Dayton, Ohio office.This role is ideal for individuals beginning their career in land surveying and looking to grow within a collaborative and innovative team.
Primary Functions
- Assisting in field surveys by setting up and operating surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS units, and levels.
- Collecting and recording data on land features, boundaries, and topography.
- Interpreting and marking survey points and boundaries based on instructions from a surveyor or engineer.
- Maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Preparing sketches, maps, and reports using computer-aided design (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS) software.
- Collaborating with surveyors, engineers, and construction teams to ensure accurate data collection and project alignment.
Desired Skills
- 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic knowledge of surveying principles and techniques.
- Proficiency with survey instruments such as total stations, GPS, and levels.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, plans, and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of ODOT survey standards and Open Roads Designer software.
- Familiarity with CAD and GIS software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
- Good communication and teamwork skills for working with field crews and supervisors.
- Basic math and geometry skills for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently under supervision.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions.
- Valid driver's license.
Desired Education
Associate's Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.

Minimum Physical Requirements
Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs., walk or stand for extended periods, and perform tasks requiring bending, kneeling, and climbing. Good vision, hand-eye coordination, and spatial awareness are essential.
