Cyber Security Assessor

VersaTech is currently looking for a Cyber Security Assessor. The successful Cyber Security Assessor has previous experience with evaluating a network's security software, operating systems, hardware, and the overall security protocols associated with it. The successful candidate will ensure that requests for security authorization of computer systems are completed in accordance with the published procedures and communicate with multiple levels of IT and business staff. Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 depending on experience. Discretionary annual bonus based on performance.

Location: Remote

Responsibilities:

* Maintain industry best practices and current knowledge following FISMA and NIST guidelines.

* Ensure the architecture and design of customer information systems are secure and functional.

* Conduct technical and programmatic assessments, evaluations, and initiatives; provide technical support to review security policies, standards, and guidelines.

* Assess environmental threats and provide input on the adequacy of security designs and architectures.

* Participate in risk assessment for certification and accreditation processes.

* Validate and evaluate vulnerability scans across a multi-platform, large enterprise environment.

* Communicate status updates to stakeholders.

* Perform complex product evaluations, recommend and implement industry-standard products and services, and validate tests.

* Provide recommendations to PM, COR, and CISO as needed.

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience.

* At least 10 years of hands-on experience in relevant areas.

* 5+ years of experience in network, host, data, and/or application security across multiple operating systems.

* Strong understanding of NIST and FISMA guidelines and security controls/control families (Rev 4 and 5)

* Familiarity with change control, change management, project management, enterprise architecture frameworks, SDLC, and security policies.

* Knowledge of the OSI model, key security capabilities, and analysis of new or existing security solutions.

* Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.

* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent additional experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Federal Government environments.

* Expertise in IP networking and protocols, internet, web applications, and various operating systems.

* Experience with leading firewalls, network scanning, and intrusion detection tools.

* Ability to prioritize effectively and work collaboratively in a team environment

* IAT Level 3 8570 certification, CASP CE (CISSP preferred).
