Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Project Manager for the Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (
CAIT) within the School of Engineering.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Leads and oversees asset management, GIS, visualization, and asset related research projects within the organization.
- Plays a critical role in planning, coordinating, and executing complex engineering research initiatives.
- Handles proposal management, project timelines, budgets, resources, and deliverables while ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on research topics related to infrastructure asset management, inventory, assessment, visualization and analytics for highway infrastructure assets, specifically within spatially enabled environments.
- Serves as the principal investigator or co-principal investigator on specific tasks for research projects pertaining to transportation planning, asset management, design, maintenance, preservation, rehabilitation, smart structures, smart cities, sensor technologies, and advanced materials.
- Provides technical input on existing contracts and upcoming proposals and represents Rutgers at national and international conferences, workshops, or technical meetings.
- Acts as liaison between academia, industry and government partners.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant professional experience in enterprise asset management and/or Geospatial Information Technology and/or spatially-enabled environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of project management, and general research principles and practice.

- Strong skills in planning, and organizing, information integration, decision making, and attaining results.
- Ability to design, develop, conduct, and manage transportation research, formulate problems, and deliver reports on a constant and timely basis.
- Extremely proficient in writing, editing and overall communications skills.
- Ability to lead, document, and organize multiple simultaneous projects.
- Ability to think broadly and conceptually and formulate creative, sophisticated solutions to complex problems and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to be detail oriented, follow up, and keep task originators informed on task progress throughout process until completion.
- Ability to work autonomously in the prescribed duties and cooperatively with CAIT's faculty and staff in general.

Preferred Qualifications |
- 15 years of relevant professional experience in enterprise asset management and/or Geospatial Information Technology and/or spatially-enabled environments.
- Expert-level knowledge of Geographic Information Systems Enterprise Asset Management (GIS/EAM) particularly using the ESRI ArcGIS software platform and tools for transportation infrastructure.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in the design of business process workflows, technical architecture, and GIS/EAM integration best practices.
- Experience on the execution of policy, governance, and asset hierarchy to support long term, enterprise-level spatially enabled asset investment planning strategies.

- All computer software necessary to perform the work duties including but not limited to GIS applications, office programs, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.

- May be required to travel independently to various locations in the U.S. and work offsite without any manager supervision.
