Description
American College of Radiology (ACR) is a progressive membership organization representing nearly 41,000 medical specialists in radiological care. As a member of our team, you will join a world leader in patient-centered care advocacy, policy and clinical research, quality and safety. Our culture encourages innovation, diversity, integrity and leadership. A nonprofit 501(c)(3), ACR (the American College of Radiology) has over 500 purpose-driven employees in the Greater Washington, DC and Philadelphia region. If you share our core values of: * Integrity * Visionary * Excellence * Leadership * Transparency * Member-Driven we need you on our team! The American College of Radiology seeks a visionary and strategic leader to serve as the inaugural Executive Vice President (EVP) for Member Value and Experience. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will play a critical role in shaping and executing strategies to enhance the value proposition of ACR membership and elevate the overall experience of members. The EVP will provide executive oversight for key functional areas vital to member connection and professional development including Membership; Education; Marketing, Public Affairs, and Communications; Conference and Meeting Services; Strategy Management and Foresight; and Publications. The position is also responsible for some of the operational and member commissions and dyad relationships between staff and volunteer leaders. This position requires a dynamic leader adept at integrating diverse functions to create a seamless member journey, fostering loyalty, growth, and active participation within the college. The role focuses on developing long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies; the ability to routinely exercise discretion; and independent judgment in the performance of job duties. This position is accountable for the overall programmatic and fiscal integrity of the multiple departments and external relationships, articulating the compelling mission and vision of the ACR to all stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of marketing, member engagement, and customer experience. Although a strong understanding of the realities of modern professional and trade associations is a benefit, candidates with experience in other industries could also be successful in this role. They must be comfortable operating in a hybrid space-part mission-driven society, part corporate enterprise-and skilled in interpreting market research, member/customer feedback, and broader industry trends. The EVP must advocate for innovation in education, where participation has declined, by aligning content delivery with new consumption habits and enhancing the use of virtual, on-demand platforms. A critical part of this role will be to ensure volunteer contributions are respected and well-leveraged, and to foster a leadership culture that listens to members, communicates transparently, and leads with purpose. A progressive, forward-thinking approach to marketing is essential. The EVP must build a marketing and communications function that is proactive, strategic, and highly responsive-amplifying the College's voice across media, to members, potential members, and the broader public. Despite talent within the media and marketing team, the group has lacked decisive leadership and has not fully realized its potential. The EVP will lead the charge in telling the College's story more effectively, improving visibility of our digital presence, and ensuring that we are not only creating value but also communicating it clearly and consistently. Familiarity with 21st-century media, data-driven marketing, and a hands-on leadership style will be essential to ensuring confidence, driving performance, and propelling the College forward. EVP responsibilities include:
The Candidate Equally important are operational and interpersonal attributes. The EVP must be curious, adaptable, and able to collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), extracting essential insights across commissions and specialty areas to inform broader strategy. This position requires a strong ability to lead and integrate cross-functional teams, ensuring that marketing and content efforts are aligned and impactful-not just process-driven. The EVP will need to elevate staff competencies, especially in leveraging member data and analytics, to close the current gap between available insights and actual utilization. With over 2,000 volunteers contributing to the College's work, this leader must also foster a culture of engagement, identifying pathways to increase Skills and Competencies
First Year Priorities: Concurrently, developing an enterprise-wide education strategy is critical. This includes clinical, leadership, and functional education, with the goal of creating a roadmap, engaging the board, and addressing current gaps in strategic alignment. As part of this effort, there may be an opportunity to hire a dedicated education leader to guide and champion this work. Strengthening the collaboration between membership and education will also be vital to articulating and delivering clear member value, grounded not in anecdote but in data-informed strategies. Given the abundance of existing resources available through other radiology societies and commercial education providers, ensuring the College's educational offerings are strongly aligned with member needs will be critical. In addition to strategic alignment, the EVP will focus on resource assessment and innovation. This includes identifying and addressing gaps in analytical support-such as adding business analysts-and establishing product development benchmarks that guide the creation of new offerings. The EVP will help shape the College's pipeline of future products and services, considering the necessary resources and market positioning. A renewed focus on member recruitment and retention will be essential, along with a proactive approach to chapter engagement. The EVP will explore ways to collaborate more effectively with legally distinct state chapters and offer targeted support to struggling or underserved ones. These efforts represent an opportunity to demonstrate renewed value and relevance at the local level while reinforcing the national organization's role as a responsive and forward-thinking partner.
