Description
The Chief Inspector position is primarily responsible for overseeing and ensuring Quality functions are adhered to and compliant to internal and external requirements, with a general understanding of the entire quality process. Secondary responsibility is to support the manufacturing side of business in final inspection. Responsibilities:
- Fulfill daily responsibilities in a team-based environment while maintaining and upholding PCX's core values.
- Review all processing certifications IAW Customer and PO requirements.
- Perform incoming inspections on purchased components.
- Visual and dimensional verification (inspection) to requirements utilizing micrometers, calipers, bore gages, thread gages, and other inspection equipment as required.
- Review and acceptance of Travelers to assure all signoffs are complete.
- Review and acceptance of repair generated documentation packages prior to presenting to customer representatives.
- Presentation of inspected/received parts to various customer representatives.
- Initiation of Discrepancy Reports, internal and external for products not meeting repair specifications.
- Participate in Product Verification Audits (PVAs) and First Articles.
- Provide Quality input in support of new business development (SAR packages).
- Review supplier first article reports for completeness per AS9102 requirements.
- Work to resolve any customers issues and concerns.
- Coordinate activity between multiple departments/functional groups to ensure efficient product flow and issue resolution.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Shipping to ensure a timely flow of material to outside process suppliers. Communicate issues negatively impacting the ability to meet schedule attainment and aid in the development of recovery action plans.
- Work with Engineering and Quality Director to resolve technical issues and recommend solutions.
- Work with engineering to create new Repairs and work with the customer to secure approval.
- Participate in the development of and ensure compliance with standard procedures.
- Support manufacturing side of business as time allows in the final inspection department.
- Support organizational improvement activities by acting a team member in improvement functions.
- Support organizational departmental cross training initiatives by becoming cross trained in various skill blocks within the Quality function as defined and agreed upon by supervision.
- Act as a role model, coach and train new associates to foster a team environment
- Follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Perform tasks as assigned by Supervisor and/or Team Leader.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended period of time.
- Fine motor skills with frequent hand and arm movement.
- Frequent twisting and bending.
Unusual Environmental Conditions:
- Loud machining environment; exposure to aerospace metals, lubricants, and chemicals.
Required Personal Protective Equipment:
- Safety glasses/shields, appropriate manufacturing closed toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection may be required or other protective equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
- US Citizen or Green card holder
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7-10 Years of Aerospace Inspection Experience.
- Fluent in print/specification interpretation, GD&T and corresponding measurement techniques.
- Knowledgeable in ISO / AS9100, AS9102, and AS9110 requirements.
- Aerospace overhaul and repair and/or precision manufacturing background desired.
- Industrial mathematics.
- Solid written and verbal skills.
