Job Purpose:

Analyze data for the creation of statistical reports used for program or process evaluation. Responsible for maintaining databases and extracting data for analysis. Runs and reviews reports, analyzing results in support of operational functions.

Logistics: PGBA - one of BlueCross BlueShield's SC subsidiary companies.

Location: This position is full-time (40 hours per week), Monday - Friday and will be on-site at 8733 Highway 17 Bypass, Myrtle Beach, SC 29575.

SCA Benefit Requirements: BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its subsidiary companies have contracts with the federal government subject to the Service Contract Act (SCA). To comply with the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA), employees must enroll in our health insurance even if they have other health insurance. Employees will receive supplemental pay for health insurance until they are enrolled in our health insurance, first of the month following 28 days after the hire date.

Government Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, which requires applicants to be a U.S. Citizen.

What You'll Do:

  • Review, extract, and analyze data to formulate procedures, processes, and other requirements. Provide reports of relevant activity to identify problematic areas and provide the basis for modifying and/or eliminating operations issues.
  • Assist with developing complex analysis and sophisticated data compilation, verification, and interpretations to guide divisional efforts. Perform focused analyses as needed. Create data search programs to identify pertinent data required to provide supporting documentation for system or operational enhancements/changes.
  • Document reporting procedures so other staff can run ad hoc reports independently. Design, code, and maintain complex database programs to extract and analyze data to support financial and operational decisions.

To Qualify for This Position, You'll Need the Following:

  • Required Education: A Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
  • Degree Equivalency: 4 years of job-related work experience OR an Associate's Degree AND 2 years of job-related work experience.
  • Required Work Experience: 2 years of research and analysis experience.
  • Required Software and tools: Microsoft Office. Knowledge of tools such as VBA, SQL, and Excel.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, customer service, communications, and analytical skills.
  • The ability to use complex mathematical calculations.
  • Advanced knowledge of mathematical and statistical concepts. Knowledge of relevant computer support systems.
  • Knowledge of programming languages across various software platforms using DB2, SQL, and/or relational databases.
  • The ability to analyze data results, determine the source of aberrant statistics, and resolve data issues.

We Prefer You to Have the Following:

  • Preferred Work Experience: 4 years of research and analysis experience.
  • Preferred Skills and Abilities: Computer programming skills. Negotiation or persuasion skills. Knowledge of ICD9/CPT4 coding.
  • Preferred Software and Other Tools: SAS experience.
