The role - what you'll do Barr is seeking a water resources engineer to join our Minneapolis team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Water Resources group, working on projects with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, completing water resources/civil engineering and related technical assignments. Assignments may include hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, GIS, and CADD work. A successful person in this role will have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. They must possess a flexible working style and be willing to occasionally modify their schedule to meet deadlines and/or client needs. Your impact - key responsibilities
Hydraulic & hydrologic analysis: Hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control, hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures. Reporting: Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications, and working with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials. Project & task management: Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to project managers and clients.
About the opportunity
Compensation: Anticipated range of $85,000-130,000. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act. Hybrid: A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. Work environment: Ability to work in an office environment. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
About you - required core competencies
Education: Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources. Experience: 5+ years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality.
Licenses/certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license. Driver's license: Possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
Helpful additional experience (not required)
Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology and/or hydraulics. Experience in business development and client management. Experience with water quality modelling and analysis. Working knowledge of GIS and CADD software. Experience with site development design, plans, and/or specifications. Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience.
