Job Family Group: FacultyTime Type: Part timeDepartment/Office: Modern Languages & Literatures (Rita Urquijo-Ruiz)Exemption Status: United States of America (Exempt)Job Description: Trinity University is seeking a Part-Time Faculty for the Fall 2025 semester to teach the following course(s):Elementary French-FREN 1401-1 Elementary French-FREN 1401-2 The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Trinity University (San Antonio, Texas) invites applications for the position of Part-Time Professor of French Studies for one semester (Fall 2025). The ideal candidate will be able to teach two lower division French language beginner courses. Pending budgetary approval, the position will begin on August 11, 2025, and is outside the tenure track. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Typical responsibilities of Part-Time Faculty members include but not limited to:
APPOINTMENT DETAILS Primary teaching responsibility will be within the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures in the French Studies section, which will include teaching the two beginning level French courses of our undergraduate French-language program. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Required: Masters of Arts (M.A.) or Philosophy Doctorate (Ph.D) in French or Francophone Language/Literature (or a related field in French or comparative studies) Preferred: Philosophy Doctorate (Ph.D) or equivalent in French or French Studies EXPERIENCE Required: Demonstrate a strong commitment of at least one year of teaching and pedagogy for both language and culture, as well as the ability to offer rigorous and creative courses for the French Studies curriculum at the beginner level. Preferred: Present an active teaching profile in French Studies or closely related fields. Interdisciplinary research is strongly encouraged. Examples include, but are not limited to, Francophone culture and literature, diaspora studies, gender and sexuality, media studies, corporeality studies, environmental studies, etc. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
