Position Overview
Essential Job Duties |
The Physics Department provides: (1) High quality Physics instruction to the University community through courses in introductory physics; (2) educational opportunities for under graduate and graduate students in physics through high quality curricula, faculty, and research facilities; (3) outreach programs that advance scientific knowledge. Our research programs cover a diverse spectrum including astrophysics, general relativity, condensed matter theory and experiment, computational physics, biophysics, nanoscalescience, physics education, experimental nuclear physics, particle and nuclear theory, experimental optics, and experimental atomic and molecular physics. The department enrolls approximately 120 graduate students and 140 undergrad physics majors. The department size is approximately 56 faculty members. While working in this department, you will be expected to foster a supportive and welcoming environment.

Other Work/Responsibilities |
The chosen Postdoctoral Research Associate will join the theoretical nuclear theory group and contribute to projects in our
DOE funded nuclear theory grant. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in physics, with a background in nuclear physics or particlephysics. Expertise in
QCD, heavy-ion physics,
QCD at high energies, hadronic physics, many-body physics, or effective field theory is desirable. This position will also include graduate student advising and scientific presentations.
A detailed breakdown of duties: Theory development (40%), Developing new software tools, numerical analysis based on existing tools (30%), Training and Mentoring (15%), Manuscript preparation, talks, and presentations (15%).
