Summary of Objective: The ASRS Operator is responsible for monitoring the operation of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). The primary duty of this position is to fulfill orders by picking and processing inventory requests to and from production as well as inventory replenishment, Shipping/Receiving, Cycle Counting and Inventory management. This includes monitoring production schedules to anticipate and prepare for upcoming material requests. This also includes coordinating periodic maintenance of ASRS, conveyor belts and software systems as well as troubleshooting/resolving minor issues. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following but other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for the proper and safe operation of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) as well as monitoring conveyor induction ports to maintain steady material flow.
  • Maintain material flow both in and out of the ASRS which includes determining priorities and the delivery of components and material to Production, Quality, BU and Warehouse.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve ASRS system failures and all crane faults as necessary and resolve ASRS conveyor systems to maintain a steady and optimized induction of material into the ASRS Grid.
  • Responsible for notifying the Supervisor, ASRS Specialist or Inventory Control Supervisor in the event of inventory inaccuracies or other crane or conveyor belt operational issues.
  • Ensure timely and accurate inventory pick and fulfillment transactions. Process Production material requests through JD Edwards and business tools (ie Smartsheet request dashboard etc).
  • Perform inventory lookups/run FEFO reports in JDE and order material from the ASRS or communicate to the supervisor or warehousers material requests for non-high-rise stored material.
  • Route picked inventory to appropriate outface and pick sales orders as instructed by Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Perform inventory transfers and over-rides as necessary to maintain inventory accuracy and flow of material to Production.
  • Follow all warehouse safety rules and procedures. This position may require overtime and/or weekend work.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to all PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies, procedures, rules. Attendance to work is an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties and Cycle Counts as assigned or requested by Manager/Supervisor.
  • Collaboration with Production, Warehouse, Facilities and Quality teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Escort and secure Controlled Drug substance and materials to and from Production and the vaults.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years related experience and/or training with ASRS systems
  • Intermediate Mathematical Skills.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.
  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.
  • High Reasoning: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where there is only limited standardization. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions that may be provided in various forms.

  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
